Where I Started

About 10 years ago I was helping my Dad pack up and move. Out in the garage tucked away in a cabinet for decades was this 1377 he'd bought in the 80's . I hadn't shot pellet or bb guns since I was a kid but I soon found the cheapness of ammo and the convenience of being able to shoot in the garage or yard really scratched an itchy trigger finger. To my delight I found out the gun was still made and with all the mods available I was hooked. A couple of years ago Santa Clause brought me a new one and I've been on that slippery slope ever since. After the holidays I'll be looking around for a used Marauder :)

There's nothing wrong with having an itchy trigger finger when it comes to airguns because it can be enjoyed right in the confines of your own home. Where you started is pretty much how it started with almost everyone here and right here is always a great place to be when it's too dark, cold, too wet or too late to shoot outside. It's an addiction that only one more sooner or later will cure and it's a temporary fix for something that we could only dream of as a kid.

Almost 40 years later and they are now just a little over $60 so still a great deal.

Add to that the myriad of accessible Crosman and accessory parts and it's crazy what you can do with these things.

Watch out for the money pit though. ;^)

A couple of the best mods are a metal barrel band and a longer barrel. The metal barrel band will, with its new tube pin, will add years of life to you gun and make it much nicer to pump. There are not many of these around so grab one while you can. A little longer barrel will give you a bit more power and range.

A Super sear or Crosman 1701 complete Gripframe rate right up there also. The SuperSear will give you a much better trigger, than the stock 13xx/22xx units, comparable to the far better 1701 trigger system found on the PCP gun.

Another good upgrade is the Flat-top valve and piston assembly. Although I have heard Crosman upgraded their material and the new piston and cup shoot harder now.

Lets not forget the metal breech the plastic one is not so great once you up your power as it has a tendency to lift and leak air at the T-port sometimes.

My grandfather used to call it monkey wards too, sad to think of the decline of the department store but things move on I suppose. I remember looking through a printed catalog for toys when I was a kid around this time of year, damn I'm getting old. I see why you have such a high accuracy number biohazardman ; your replies are always a big help. Very slick looking gun you've got there, I'll bet it could shoot the wings off a gnat at 50 yards. The old 1377 will be a time capsule of sorts, it will be passed on to my son someday. I had a look, those are some nice pieces, if the 1377 was my go to gun I'd definitely sink the coin into it. I'm hesitant so spend anymore on the current guns if I'm going over to the "Dark Side" though :)
