Where is it? New to PCP: pre and post use equipment maintenance regimen

Should a neophyte want to establish THE "best practice" routine for caring for their first pcp and its accouter-mental accessories...is there a bible available? Surely one exists, but I'm not finding it.

I have a new Air Venturi Avenger (predictable; I know) and the manual has a couple of stumbling points that I need help clarifying.
1) The manual says that all pcp's like to be stored with some air in them to keep pressure on the seals. The next couple of sentences are about degassing. Is there a problem storing my Avenger with 3000 ish psi in the reservoir?

I'm sure there are many precautions that I absolutely should observe that haven't even occurred to me. There has to be a compilation for blank pages like me. Where can I find it?

No problems storing with pressure, our guns prefer it for keeping seals pliable. Shoot your gun, have FUN, clean barrel with pull-through when accuracy drops off, don't shoot the neighbor's kids or dog, have fun &, oh, have fun!

Don't overthink it. Clean the barrel good. Wipe down after shooting and enjoy. Fine out what pellet shoot best and have at it. The Avenger is a nice starter airgun. Welcome aboard and enjoy your toy.

And...use DRY AIR. Water in the expensive compressed air will kill that gun faster than dropping it over a cliff. Ok, slight exaggeration but you get the idea. Welcome to the Rabbit Hole®

I have two avengers and keep them at whatever pressure they are after im done for the time i was shooting. On many occasions I actually fill them back up before putting them away and no issues so far. Had them both for about a year.

i would just shoot it as it comes for a bit.

and learn about those areas of tuning while you get a feel for the gun.

You can turn the regulator UP and ONLY UP under pressure. That is no problem. If you want to decrease the reg pressure you MUST DEGASS the gun first. The hammer spring can be adjusted up and down under any condition. The first thing I did with my avengers is degass them and turn the regs down from their ridiculously and pointlessly high stock place. They don’t produce any more power when set above 25 or 2600, yet they come at 2900. Just a waste. Turned my 25 cal to 2100 and my 22 to 1900.

Yours is the third recommendation I've come across for tuning down the Avenger. Consistency and accuracy reportedly coincide at around 850 fps with 14.5 -15ish grain 22 cal pellets?

Yeah if you are only going to shoot pellets 15 gr and below you can turn down the reg even more. Probably 1500-1700.

A 1700psi setpoint produced good results from mine with midweight pellets (15-18gr). It is running about 860fps with a 16gr pellet (26fpe).

Note the hammer spring did not have sufficient adjustment range to back it off to the velocity knee (95 - 97% of maximum velocity). The result was excessive muzzle blast and mediocre groups. Removing one turn from the spring with a Dremel emery wheel did the trick. Air usage is much better and groups improved noticeably. Better efficiency also means quieter.

One exception on the storage: if your gun has a regulator and you won’t be using it for a while, shoot down until the tank pressure reaches the reg pressure. Less stress on reg orings and piston when pressure on each side is equal.
