where should we post threads about missing rifles?

So on December 28th i sold a FX Panthera to a member.. Was shipped on Dec 30th. It got hung up in bad weather in the mid west. and after reaching his state distribution center it never moved. After some rather wierd tracking it mysteriously vanished from the mail and a claim was put in on Paypal for a refund. I want to post pictures of the rifle with serial #'s just in case someone happens to come accross it.
So im out a rifle and cash.. As it was only sold to obtain other toys..It's a poopty situation. IF there is other places to post just point me in the direction. I will prob never get the rifle back. So maybe this thread would be best used for awarness. Happy to publish any details if asked

Always ship with insurance, unless you dont care to lose it. Also report it as stolen to the shipper and the police. Where was it stolen from? And what shipper?
usps was the shipper, Kansas City Montana was the last know location which is the state it was shipped to.And i deff dropped to ball without insured to full value. Never had a issue shipping or recieving anything and I always try to be as fair as possible . Lessons learned by this mistake.

Sorry you got caught up in the situation.
I do not trust anyone anymore, not a soul. I recently tried to sell a Crown Mark 2 and I got all kinds of scam request opportunities from members on this site. I got quite a few of them that were obvious attempts at theft.
Do you take digital currency?
Do you take Bit Coin? Honestly not sure what that is even , I am an old fart with a simple bank account.
Pay Pal, they love pay pal, personally when it comes to guns pay pal is out.
Can you ship the rifle so I can look at it?
If you will ship it and send me the tracking I will send payment, yea right I just fell off the apple tree.
I got all kinds of requests like this. This used to be a good site with mostly honest members, it has drastically changed.

My answer is simple . Send me a check or money order and once it is determined not to be a photo copy and it clears the bank, then I will ship you the rifle and not until then....or you can move on and stay mad.

If you ship me a rifle and I have the tracking number I can go to the local pick up distribution center and with a Drivers license pick it up and take it home. Now the chain of tracking is messed up and I have a free rifle and you have an empty sack.

And yep always insure any shipment for a few hundred more than value as they will try to cut you down when it comes to payment.

Cheers
Kit

That would be Kansas City , Missouri, not Montana.

Don't give them any lip, it just gets worse.

I've been waiting on a package from USPS due Dec 28th, they claim it's on the way since Jan 3rd. I haven't gotten it yet but 2 days ago it popped back up claiming to have been scanned through the system 160 miles away. Hopefully your package shows up.
This gives me hope

I was sold a bsa goldstar se a couple years back. It was shipped usps uninsured and contents were declared as wood; oddly, the package disappeared in the Kansas City area.
Seller did not file a police report and he refunded me immediately.
A fellow AGN member notified me when the gun popped up on ebay almost a year later...
same unique features, so even though the seller did his best to obscure the ser# it was an obvious match.
Neither ebay or paypal would step in to help out.
I took a chance and purchased the gun "a second time" from the ebay seller, thinking i could recover the original owners money.
When the airgun arrived and the SER# was verified, i provided the appropriate info / custody trail and tracking info to ebay and paypal... they could care less. Thus No money recovered and the thief got away with his $booty$ claiming he bought at a legit auction sight.
At least i made the scumbag sweat for 30 days.
Lessons learned:
Take lots of pictures and include ser# and unique features.
properly declare contents to shipper
Insure for full value that matches all of your saved reciepts
when the carrier declares it a loss, file a police report immediatley
then file a claim against the carrier and include all of the above info including police report.

always put two extra shipping labels in the box... one inside the inner most box with the gun and include the new owners name and contact info, and also put one on the outside of inner gun box
always double box when you can.

It has been a bummer. i will never ship another thing unless it is fully insured. But there is some light at the end of the tunnel for me.. Tracked the packag this morning and it was back to Kansas city MO, so i contacted the buyer and asked to keep an eye out. He responded shortly later that is maybe delivered after 3 today.. If it shows up he would like to resend payment. if he does not want it i will be happy to have it back lol. been in shipping since Dec 30th .

I have had this happen before. A package disappear and then reappear. With no tracking from some point until delivery. It often happens at a regional center and is often related to an overload in the system. Packages are thrown into bins. The bins are scanned in such cases but not each package. Unwieldy items like a rifle might not get into the bin properly. The bin travels about but your actual package is not in the bin. It is weird. At some point a donut eating and coffee drinking employee notices the oversize, odd shaped package and tosses it into the truck and it may or may not get another scan until it shows a delivery notice.
