Which Cal and Barrel Kit next for the FX Impact M3?

Been there, done that.

My Impact M3 0.25 Compact was my favorite/go-to rifle ever since I got it b/c I've preferred the 0.25 for the ground squirrels that occasionally show up in my yard. In fact, I've been almost solely 0.25 for the last 5 years and had even gotten rid of most/all of my 0.22 pellets. But after years of vigilantly scouring my yard for any squirrel movement and eliminating them, I don't have that many to shoot anymore. That, and the fact that I'm squarely in the suburbs, led me to pick up another M3 Compact in 0.22. Advantages are: 0.22 is still plenty lethal for squirrels but is quieter, uses less air, cheaper to shoot and probably just better overall for suburban use.

The 18.13g JSB's going out at 880-900fps has plenty of stopping power and noticeably quieter than my 0.25 doing the same fps (using comparable moderators). Quickly tuned down to anything in the 800-830fps range, it's basically silent. Very happy with my 0.22 Compact setup now and have been making that my (more) frequent shooter and have since converted the 0.25 to a 600mm setup tuned up a little hotter for whatever rare larger critter than may show up (I don't shoot the 0.25 much recently other than to check zero).

Go with the 0.22 if your situation is anything comparable to mine. 0.177 seems limited for anything other than pure paper punching purposes and 0.30 is overkill if you're within city limits.

Sounds like you're got a great platform already!

I have a .30 600mm and a .25 700mm (STX and slug) set up with harmonic tuner, CF sleeve, and DonnyFL Fat Boy to switch between all calibers. I love how the .30 hits the steel targets but for general fun and tuning I spend most of my time with the .25.

Without knowing your goals (shooting improvement, tweaking, long-range, cheap plinking, hunting, etc), plus how long your home (or nearby) range is for where you can shoot regularly (and wind considerations), it's hard to give informed advice. Additionally, you've not mentioned having an in-house air source (compressor and/or transfer tank), which I consider a must for long-term enjoyment. Driving to fill tanks and hand pumps are a bear. Especially with multiple guns to feed.

Pellet availability is getting better again, with .22 being the king for options, but .25 and .30 also have lots of options, good grain spread, and types.

So...saying all that:

- As I enjoy the tweaking and tuning involved in precision shooting; I would suggest maybe a removable harmonic tuner for your current set-up, and chronograph as an alternative to another barrel. Also, an in-line regulator for your transfer tank is nice to keep from constantly filling the gun's tank (although your 580 is nice and big). With shorter barrels being stiffer, a CF sleeve is better served on a 700mm.

- For cheap plinking, a short .22 barrel for portability/maneuvering in the woods, or long .22 for higher velocity and shot count from the bench.

- I would only go .177 if shot count and your range (neighbors) limit how much energy you want flying downrange.

- For hard hitting against steel targets at distance, .30 is a blast. Plus the heavier pellets do better in the wind, as do .25 slugs. Longer barrels for higher velocities...again from a bench only though.

100% agree, a 22/25cal combo is tough to beat.

I've been using a compressor only to charge up my guns. I have been leaning towards the .22 instead of the .30. I was thinking .22 because the availability of ammo. You can get .22 almost anywhere. Also, there is no telling how many shots I can get. I get roughly 185-200 shots now using 25 grain pellets or 26 grain fx slugs. 95% of my shots are 50 yards or less.

Very nice looking rig. I have the same rail as you and love it. For your Radar, here's the link to a thread where I'm posting about my 3D printed mods (and a way to hang it off that rail): https://www.airgunnation.com/threads/fx-impact-m3-3d-printed-mods.1281578/

You already have the big money buttstock, so my cheap'o version is not needed.

I'm looking for a Arca Accu-tac so I can utilize the end of the Saber Tactical rail which is picatinny for an adapter so I can move the FX chronograph off the barrel to the rail. The only problem is I can't seem to make my mind up on which to purchase.
I've got a Creality Ender 3 S1 Plus inbound. It'll be my first 3d printer and excited to start making parts like yourself. I really like what you're doing here https://www.airgunnation.com/threads/fx-impact-m3-3d-printed-mods.1281578/
I've been looking at printers for a couple of years now but was always unsure which to purchase. I just pulled the trigger on that one.

Congrats on the printer! I've heard good things about the Crealitys. I'm on my second Prusa (having sold the first when moving back from overseas). I like the full build process and ability to print spares. If you've not done so already, I would start digging into Fusion 360. You can get it for free as a hobbyist. It's the gold standard for designing things. You're limited to 10 active editable models on the free version, but you can always close and reopen them, so not too bad. Lots of great tutorials on Youtube. I really like Lars Christensen's videos. They are a little older now, but his teaching style is great and they are still relevant.

My next post on my mods thread will have the FX Radar mount and MLOK adapter that will fit perfectly to your rail.
