Which cal would you pick? Brocock Ranger XR 22 or 25 caliber

Looking to buy a Brocock Ranger XR in either 22 or 25 caliber...so what would you pick? I really like 25 cal but if a 22 cal gives me more velocity and a better trajectory then I'll probably go with that. Little more shot count with a 22 than a 25 cal as well.

Also this will be a pest gun for birds (starlings) within 50 yards. I have a Bsa R10 and Daystate Wolverine for longer ranges and bigger game, but I find most of the time I grab a smaller gun for closer ranges. The Ranger XR fits the bill for that.

It's a smaller gun with a smaller reservoir...I'd choose .22;especially for feathers and shot count! Happy Thanksgiving!

I would go with the .22 for the Ranger/Atomic XRs. I’ve posted extensively about my use of my .22 Atomic XR. It has become my primary sub 50 yard pester. 300 plus pest birds since March. I shoot mine almost everyday. Awesome little platform.

I have the Atomic XR in .22 caliber. The 65cc air cylinder is good for 30ish shots set to maximum power. I'm very happy with my setup!

This is just me but I wouldn’t consider that low powered platform in 25 for even a second. Stick with 22 for a better balance of trajectory and power in my opinion.

My bad. I stand corrected. I was using my Sniper HR as an example. Different gun altogether. I should have read the thread more carefully.

I just bought a .25 caliber Impact. I love the 25 but would now like to get a 22 barrel for it. With hindsight being 20/20 (kind of in this case), If I’d bought the 22 caliber first, I don’t think I would have wanted a 25.

i have a worn out .177 only shots @ 6.5 FPE now that and a wadcutter pellet and small birds do not have a chance out to 18 yards or so.

PS a .25 on a small bird is like a bowling ball hitting you

The .22 is the better choice in this platform. And will be plenty of smack down for starlings and sparrows out to fifty yards and beyond.
