Hello,

What scope mounts are recommended for a 97k or similar air rifles with a dovetail? My 97K came with a scope and mounts but I noticed that the scope was slipping back ever so slightly with every shot. I am thinking of replacing my scope and mounts with an Element optics Helix with a 30mm body and a one piece mount. I have heard good things about BKL one piece mounts but there are so many options that I was getting a bit overwhelmed.

Any insight or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

What was the scope that came with your rifle, make and size?

If your scope and mounts were moving then all you need are mounts with a stop pin to keep it secured.

I have used the RWS Lockdown one piece mount very successfully on my 97s, though I prefer the Sports Match two piece mounts using one stop pin in the rear mount.

don't forget to wipe the rails and rings and scope with alcohol,, I use 91% isopropyl alcohol
I prefer the SportsMatch med rings

This rail was made specifically for the HW 97 or the TX 200, it has 20 moa built in - best mount period - see fleabay:

20MOA drop (ideal for Field Target shooting ranges). Mounting rail can be mounted on a Dovetail 11 mm rail and is equipped with a Weaver/Picatinny base. Rings weight: 122g. Heigth (center to center): 30mm.

Sportsmatch makes a separate recoil stop block with a steel stop pin that works well if you're using rings without a stop pin/screw. PA has them for around $13.00. I have one on my D350. Rock solid, no rearward creep.

It also has a small dovetail on top that, if the scope diameter and ring height is right, will accept a Sportsmatch spirit level. I added one to my .22 HW98. Tucks under the scope nicely and is easy to see.

Thank you for all of your help. The scope and mounts that came on my 97k were garbage (ohhunt).

Thanks to your advice I purchased a set of Sportsmatch T035C 2-Pc Medium 30mm Scope Mounts for a Element Helix 2-16x50 HDLR (SFP) - APRC-1 MOA.

Will post pics of the before and after at some point soon.

FYI, Sportsmatch T035C 2-Pc Medium 30mm Scope Mounts do not fit the Element Helix 2-16x50 HDLR (SFP) on the 97K.

Ordered Sportsmatch HTO36C 2-Pc 30mm High Scope Mounts which should clear.

I used West Hunters, but I'm still waiting for the 97K to come in, so I had to try it out on the HW30.
