Which one to buy, the Weihrauch HW98 or HW97k? Need help :(

No real plan. I like to thinker and have been gun-smithing for as long as can remember, and I shoot long range rifles, so I’m sure I’ll be pushing them as far as I can. I guess I’m looking to expand into springer air rifles and to assemble a good collection. I was thinking to buy the AA TX200 but they don’t require almost any work, and that’s no fun 🤩

97K all day then.

The TX200 definitely could use some work though as they are far from perfect. My .177 97K out shot my .177 TX by a bit until I short stroked the TX. That was in the lead for a bit until I returned my 97 and now they're about the same again. That being said, I'm still only $600 into that 97 whereas I'm $1100 into the TX....

My .22 97K kicks both their butts though.

I have both in .177 and set them up for target shooting with 12 ft lbs kits. With the right pellet combination each is capable of 1 hole groups at 25 yards. Out of the box I find the 97 easier to shoot rested even though the has the barrel sleeve. My 98 has barrel droop and uses a compensated scope mount. I like both but if I had to pick one to keep it would be my 97.

You think I should go .22 for long range? What speeds are you getting??

You don’t have a break barrel and the 98 is sweet. I have .177 and .22. Easy to cock, love the fit, good looking and deadly accurate, one of my favourites. I’d have more of them but their just not available to me.
Don’t get me wrong, the 97 is as good as it gets for underlevers, have all the cal. Good luck Crow
Thank you very much!

Thanks Nico! Any suggestions on any other break barrel?? Since my other 2 are side levers, perhaps a BB might be the way to go for now…
Just received me hw95 field pro from AoA yday and it’s just a beautiful gun. The cocking is so effortless and less recoil than I thought w no twang whatsoever. It’s doing around 15fpe

The 95 I believe has the same internals as the 98, 85 and the R9. All lethal break barrels. Can’t go wrong with any of them. Have them in .177 and .22. Last 2 guns I got were a 97 and a R9 both in .20. I am blown away by their performance. Wish I could get more in this cal. If not .20 than .22 would be my recommendation. Crow
