Yes, 50yards is a good measure for pellets. Slugs on the other hand, should be at 100 yards standard (In my honest opinion). I prefer pellets at 50ish, they are cheaper are not nearly affected by wind or their low bc at those ranges.
I think one of the unspoken notions in threads like this is 100+ yard shooting. While I'm sure there's some validity to using slugs at 50y, I can imagine that others are like myself, that zero at 100y with the goal of stretching out further.
I'm not sure if the OP had this notion in mind, but I think 50y is relatively trivial and doesn't really speak to the true compatibility with the slugs and airgun.
