Which PCP's can shoot Slugs Well?

I think one of the unspoken notions in threads like this is 100+ yard shooting. While I'm sure there's some validity to using slugs at 50y, I can imagine that others are like myself, that zero at 100y with the goal of stretching out further. 

I'm not sure if the OP had this notion in mind, but I think 50y is relatively trivial and doesn't really speak to the true compatibility with the slugs and airgun.

Yes, 50yards is a good measure for pellets. Slugs on the other hand, should be at 100 yards standard (In my honest opinion). I prefer pellets at 50ish, they are cheaper are not nearly affected by wind or their low bc at those ranges.

Birdslayer might want to save a few bucks and give the 25 Sumatra a try with the reasonably priced 49 grain flat points shooting north of 100 fpe. Don't look for much of a shot count, and not recommended for tree shots in urban areas.

From my understanding FX NEEDS to make slug barrels because of their smooth-twist twist rates. FX rates twist rates are much slower than the average rifle, 1:30 or so for ST. Which is great for long range pellets, but not good for slugs. The average LW barrel is around 1:15 or 1:16 or so and do great with both. The FX liner are exactly the same twist as most LW barrels. There is no doubt FX makes great guns, but they are also great at marketing too.

i own an FX rifle and love it. but i have to admit, their marketing has them on top right now. (hype). FX may or may not be the best, but right now their marketing scheme is on top for sure.

IMO there is no “best gun”. there are alot of great guns out there.

I tried them in my .22 Outlaw and didn't have very good results I'm thinking the barrel must be choked. I tested them in my 850 Air Magnum and it shot them pretty well but it's lacking on power.

my kral big max x shoots slugs nicely. look up on youtube kral big max x. shooting slugs over 200meters. one guy shoots 400meters!

Pretty much FX is the only manufacturer that has designed barrels for slugs. Nothing will perform as well as FX does. I don’t have a gun but I’m planning to buy one for shooting slugs. I’m not the slightest bit interested in any other gun due to FX being like the most hands on when it comes to like everything lol. They have been the first to market with almost every advancement in this arena. Impact mkll will be in my hands soon.

You might want to do a little more research before you plunk down ur money.

Airforce Condor .25 24 inch barrel.

Straight out of the box mine shoots 36.2gr NSA slugs at 965 fps for about 75 ft lbs. Very accurate too. I haven't had it out too many times, but so far so good.

Just put it in a Mad Dog stock. That should only improve the performance. Can't wait to get it out again.

There are very good YT videos about using slugs in airguns. It seems to me that slugs introduce additional variables, many of which can be controlled effectively by selecting the most suitable slug, tweaking lubrication, muzzle velocity, barrel harmonics, and muzzle device. However, a specialty barrel can take slug tuning to a different league. Slug-optimized rifling, twist rate, and choke can change slug behavior such as stability in flight, accuracy, and precision to a degree untouchable by other tuning means. Despite barrel research is tedious, expensive, and takes a long time, the reward can be significant. Anyone who is serious about shooting slugs, shall look into specialty barrels.

One note about .177 caliber. This is an unlikely caliber for slugs. There is little business case for .177 slugs, and they are not mass-produced. Consider stepping up.

No…its the relationship between the barrel and the slug. 
that’s what make this whole game so complicated.

I have many Daystates that love them: Wolverine hi-lite, Huntsman classic (JSB 10.03gr) 16FPE, a few different air rangers (.22 - .25). They all use different weights depending on power from .22 20.2gr. NSA 35FPE to .22 24.9gr. H&N 50FPE to .25 33.5gr. NSA 50FPE. Have still not tried the huntsman XL .25 or Wolverine 303.

Have an Evanix Rainstorm that shoots 12.5gr. 20FPE NSA very well.

Have a Logun Solo that shoots 12.5gr.18.5FPE NSA lights out.

My next endeavor will be trying slugs in AA guns (400/410/500/510 - I have them all)

Have an AEA Challenger bullpup that loves .25 36.2gr. NSA 78FPE.

The main reason I started shooting slugs was due to Utah airguns putting out youtube videos pushing their wares that you need an FX Impact 3K gun to shoot slugs. 

BTW, all the guns above have used $100 - $200 scopes on top of them in $10 rings. Don't be fooled for a second you need a superior liner to get into the game.

At least .my 22 - .25 - 30 uragans shot slugs flawless in fact better in high power than pellets so much that I don't purchase pellets for them only slugs. No liner b.c.w. the 177 should be here in 2 or 3 weeks tuned for 13.43 knockouts..let see how that one goes..
