I have been having a lot of fun target shooting and tin can shooting with a few pellet guns. A big plus is my wife also enjoys shooting with me. As a kid my father gave me a Crosman .22 pellet rifle. I must have put untold thousands of pellet through it. My dad and I would set on the back porch and shoot at targets, the large kitchen matches etc. It gave us a chance to talk ( The talk was the important part }! Anyway I am retired and older, so I need something of interest to play with and talk to the wife.

I purchased a couple of Crosman air pistols and a Diana Chaser kit. They all use the small CO2 powerlets. No pumping, no compressors, cheap to shoot and good shooters at 25 to 50 feet. The Chaser with the stock is my favorite of the guns. Now I am thinking of maybe getting another rifle as I like small groups and maybe getting a scope for the new one.

After reading some reviews and watching some YouTube information I am drawn to the Beeman Q78 rifles. I think they are accurate for the price and would be fun to shoot. There are three different models that I have been looking at to buy.

1. QB 78 I do like the look of a traditional wood and steel rifle!
2. QB785 Different stock has a attachment point for a tripod.
3. QB78D Has a multi shot and single shot choice included. I think I would be using only single shot.....more accurate.
None of the above....I have a better suggestion!

Excellent air rifles all (basically a less expensive copy of one of Crosman's fine old classics). Well-suited to DIY tinkering too! I don't think you'd go wrong with any one of the three; just shop around for the best price and after-sales service and you'll be all set. Good luck! :)

Non of the above. Get a Hw30 or the Beeman R7 rebranding. Easy to cock(one time), stupid accurate, quiet, heirloom quality and no CO2 cartridges. Guaranteed to put a smile on your face. I've got two and my wife has one as well.

VERY nice air rifles, but they are much different from the three CO2 air rifles mentioned and may not quite meet what the OP's needs are (as I understood them). They're much more costly, the cocking force can be a bit much for older folks (like me), and all three require learning and mastering shooting techniques applicable only to their own narrow type of air gun (or guns of any type). Again, I'm not suggesting they're not great rifles, just that maybe they aren't what the OP is looking for in this case. They ARE very nice though. :)

Thanks for the compliments on the rifles. He asked for other suggestions with the non of the above comment. This was my suggestion.

Have you ever cocked a Hw30? A nine year old girl can cock one. My body is pretty beat up for it's 58 years and I shoot mine for hours without a hint of fatigue. I have lots of older friends with Hw30s that have no problem using them either.

I do understand the HW30S are much more expensive initially but the cost of Co2 cartridges will eventually even the costs. When it does you'll have a much nicer rifle for your money with the Weihrauch.

Having owned/worked-on the Beeman QB78, QB78 Delux, QB79 and AR2079; they're very solid rifles for the $$$ (no plastic for me).
However, the QB series are not a fine tuned gun and usually need barrel/trigger work to shoot their best. ..... So depends what you want?
I have modified mine to High Pressure Air (PCP) as the Co2 powerlets get expensive and are non-regulated.

Another option would be to order a Beeman QB78, have it sent directly to Mike @ Flying Dragons. He does great work ... for a very reasonable price.

Lastly, as Ron has suggested, the HW30S will cover all your needs "out of the box" - cocking for anyone should almost be seen as a non-issue.

Ron sometimes doesn't understand it's a forum and people are entitled to their opinions whether he likes them or not...lol. Any number of members on here have said they same thing about the new Weihrauch stocks you did, so don't let it bother you.
As for Amazon not shipping to you, click the link I posted above for Flying Dragon Air Rifles. Mike has both the AR2078 and AR2078A. While I wish his new website listed pricing, a quick phone call will get you that and a chat about whatever work you might want done so it's already been tweaked before you get it delivered. He also includes a list of pellets tested and fps numbers inside the box lid to give you a starting point to what pellets to try.
