Whiscombe JW80 MK2 .22 Silvertop off the bench

Shooting a JW80 MK2 off a front bag, benched (plastic foldable table, ha! ) is fun stuff.

Had a short outing with the Silvertop shooting lubed AA 16gn at 55 yards. I didn’t have a clear picture of the entire 3” gong due to foliage, but come on, that’s a huge target. I did have an unobstructed view of the carriage bolt head securing the gong to the chain, so proceeded to use that as a POA. No real wind to speak of.

5 shots took all the paint off that small bolt.

Now to get it dialed in on the 85 yard Zombie resettable target!🤓 1 7/16” top kill zone and 1 9/16”bottom reset paddle. Per the Amazon description top kill zone was supposed to be 1.5” and bottom reset paddle 2”, so this is going to be a fun challenge:

Here she is below with a vintage gloss Burris R/A 8-32x44 MD in a one piece adjustable Sportsmatch mount. I’m thinking of designating this beauty as a long distance bench rig so will likely upgrade the scope soon.

Happy Father’s Day weekend!

Beautiful setup and accuracy. I wouldn't change the setup. All pieces are period correct. I have the 001 SN of the JW80, but I think I have a BKL260 with B&L 4200 on top.
I would try NSA 17.5gr .218 slugs out of it since I believe these guns have polygonal barrels.
For some reason I was under the impression that John choked his barrels. After all they were intended for pellets. Have you tried slugs in yours? Is this just a Marktwo thing? I have one left my ETA. And I have some slugs. Lots of them in different sizes.

I have shot a few sub 1 inch groups with this rifle in two different calibers

I was told they were polygonal barrels, so that's all I need to test slugs. The only reason I haven't is because I don't know where it is buried. I've tried without success for two other JW owners to try slugs in theirs, but they chickened out. Have a 65 TB too. Have to try.
I also owned one of those gigantic Burris scopes. Very nice, but it has sentimental value to an airgunner that wasn't sold back to him, so I relented.
