Benjamin Who has shortened their .177 Akela hammer spring?

There's some great information here on shortening the hammer spring on the Akela .177.
I'm curious for those of you that have actually done that.. how many of you have seen a drastic improvement in shot count versus those of you that may have been a bit disappointed after shortening the spring.

I did it to mine when I had one. Made a huge improvement in consistency and shot count, and the power stayed roughly the same.

I have just replaced the hammer spring on my Akela .177 with a weaker spring.
I am getting many shots (70-80) now from about 865 FPS to 900 FPS with Crosman Ultramagnum domed 10.5 grain pellets.

Outer diameter: 12mm
Wire diameter: 1.2mm
Length: 100mm from which I cut 2-2.5 coils

I cut about 2-2.5 coils using a rotary (like Dremel) tool.

If you want to do this better have a chrony.

Great benefits from shortening the spring. Adjustability and shot count increase. I was not a .177 fan until I got my Akela … and cut the spring. My only cmpl is not having forward cocking handle. That would just be icing on the cake.
