I just wanted to clarify. Who makes FX Hybrid Slugs? I've always thought it was Varmint Knockers but now I keep coming across threads saying Rocky Mountain Reloading (RMR) makes them. Which one is it?

I would think someone would be able to reach out to Dale (I think that’s his name) who makes the Varmint Knockers to ask if he also makes FX Hybrids. As for the RMR theory I’ve only read about them recently on the forums.

I have many different pellets and a handful of different slugs, I even those H&N piledriver pellets. I have yet to buy and try the hybrid slugs from FX are they worth the Price? in your opinion if you have them....

I haven't tried or seen the Varmit Knockers but the RMR pellets I've purchased look and shoot exactly like the Hybrids.

If I remember correctly, and this is not admissible in court, I think the Hybrid was a copy of what the Varmint Knocker dude came up with. That’s how his name is involved.

Or it could be the Rat Sniper dude. All I know is the original chatter was FX kinda stole, borrowed or bought the idea. I don’t think it was entirely theirs. But who cares anyway.

Yeah, one of the slug makers came up with them, and they never went into production. Then FX comes out with essentially the same thing. I'm sure they have someone else making them as order volume would probably be out of hand for just one guy. If you want a superior slug (accuracy and consitency-wise) and similar devastating function, look at the Griffin LDC slugs. Of course your gun will still have to be tuned appropriately, and you will have to find a suitable size and weight projectile that suitable and appropriate for your barrel. If it likes slugs at all.

My comment about who cares who invented the concept was not a stab at your original question. I was just thinking what’s done is done. I bought RMR slugs out of curiosity in several calibers but the box has remained unopened. I’m clueless about who makes what for who. I just buy things and if I like it and it works, I’m happy and pray they don’t stop making it.

Here let me help you out. I spoke to the boss and he told me they made them for FX. They are 100% identical. To .00005", diameters, lengths. A few weeks back, I read on RMR’s site that they made the Hybrids- it might have been in announcing their overstock sale at the time.

Corbin makes the dies and the design has been around long before the mass marketing so anyone can produce the same projectile and sell it under any name they wish. NSA used to make them for sale but dropped the design because it requires an extra step beyond regular swaged projectiles.
