Who makes the best barrels for air rifles?

Sounds like you will have one amazing rig!! Sorry for all barrel questions. I was just curious if makers were finally catching on to poly barrels or its all together a new design. A number of guys barreled with poly barrels with excellent results 2-3 years ago. I don't believe any of them were serious BR or FT competitors though. I had a poly blank and sold it because at the time I only had .25 caliber guns and didn't figure I would ever use it.

ajshoots,

AZ says it is one of the best he's made so now all the excuses are gone. Nothing else he can do to this rig. No problems with the barrel questions, I just don't have all the answers. You aren't too far from me so if you want a first hand look some time, I'm sure we can work that out. This is the same barrel type that went into the RAW that Salticon used to best ColdKing so if you are looking for a really solid .177 and don't mind paying 2x cost for a barrel, give Martin a ring.

"Deja"Strange how no one has mentioned BSA, their barrels are top notch.
I have read numerous times that BSA isn't as good as it used to be.

I have never tried one of the newer BSA blanks but apparently they aren't so great anymore.

If you have some direct experience of installing one of the latest gen BSA blanks then I would like to hear about it. Sometimes info is just regurgitated multiple times with no guarantee of the accuracy of the original source.

That is how the rumor about JKhan and Evanix being the same company started. Someone said the Krosa looked like a Rainstorm and loads of people repeated it even though they have never been the same company.

I have installed new production BSA .22 24" long choked barrel on my FX Royale 400 .22 regulated.

The gun gas become a bit longer with the LDC but the accuracy is top notch. It accepts a variety of pellets at variety of FPS. The only pellet it did not like yet is FTT.

It shoots JSB 18 grain, 16 grain as well as CP 14.3 grain at 25 yards to 40 yards very accurately but at longer distances 18 grain JSB is a clear winner.

Surprisingly CP is accurate up to 40 yards even at 980 fps.

I had a RAW HM 1 000X in25 cal that didn't shoot anywhere near where it should so I took it back to raw. 3 weeks latter i got it back and it shot the same or not as good. Send it to AZ and told him to make it a 30 cal. that shot good. It came back 30 cal and shoots really good. He when over the gun and replaced a lot of parts. Gun shoots great and AZ was great to work with.
He gave me exactly wha t i ask for and the work was flawless. He was very nice and
So easy to talk too. He will give you what
You ask for and no back talk or double ta lk Seemed to be an outstanding man. Any more work will be done e by AZ. He is great
Gun is also great. 900 FPS withv44 .75 JSB pellets. Vortex pellets shot as good as JSB pellets and maybe a littl e better if you weigh them.

During my long addiction to center fire BR I've shot match winning groups with Krieger, Bartlien, Hart, Shilen and Kreiger. They're all excellent barrel makers. But even they can't make a poorly fitted and chambered shoot worth a damn. If your gunsmith can't keep a chamber within 0.0002" TIR with relation to the bore, you simply can't expect consistent 0.25 MOA. Those are tight tolerances, and I've cut enough barrels to know full well how difficult it is to meet them. There are so many other variables that have to come together just so to produce "accuracy" that I think your choice of barrel maker is fairly far down the list.

have you posted any groups or benchrest scores with this gun ?
does it shoot as good for you as it did for AZ ?
we sure would like to know how it came out
"sharroff"fe7565,
I got a fantastic .177 LW poly barrel from Martin at RAW, but it wasn’t cheap.. Allan Zasadny say’s it’s one of the best he’s ever worked with. He’s getting 1/4 groups at 55 yards shooting FT sitting. He’s pulling from a tin (not sorted) with only lubing so even better could be possible. So far 1,600 pellets though the barrel with no cleaning or accuracy degradation (he’s doing alot of testing to learn this new barrel), The gun is on the way back to me as I type. I’m super excited to see what I can do with it!!)
and Yes, I will post groups and chrony work when I get it. Plus pics!!

Hello. I know this thread is old, but I needed somewhere to make my first ever post. I have only owned airguns for two years. But a local friend has 28 of them, and I have been shooting and learning his guns for that two years. I can tell you his single most accurate airgun is an old Falcon FN-19 in .22, shooting JSB 16 grain pellets through one pellet hole, literally, at 80 yards from a bench, inside his 100 yard long chicken coup barn. He has a huge, and heavy bench he clamps his guns on, in a big precise vise. Takes all other variables out. His second most accurate gun is a BSA Stalker in .22, with the old hammered barrel. And the third most accurate is one of my three airguns. It is a Filarms airgun I purchased from a pawn shop a couple of hours away from my house. It came with a notebook inside the gun case from the previous owner, with all of the gun information. That gun has a .20 caliber Career barrel from someone named Davis. It shoots 14.3 Crosman Preimer pellets at 980 fps, and does 1/4" groups at 65 - 70 yards. I am not sure who made his Falcon barrel. But that gun isn't even regulated or tuned. Just my limited knowledge leaves me thinking getting the "best" barrel may be down to simple luck.

All I know in all certainty is this,

Until I'm in the top 2% or so of all shooters who can actually determine/use the hair-splitting difference between the creme dela creme of the WORLDS BEST barrel manufacturers,I'm going to put down the spread sheets, calipers, slide rules, digital scales, calculaters and slowly back away from the keyboard...and Practice shooting my airguns that can Already shoot far beyond my own capabilities. Just my thoughts/opinion.

mmm..... Absolutely right. in my country .177 local tournament is "41 meters" with 15 targets. each target is 8mm diameter of plastic ball. There is one particular group / local club that always win the tournament...one of the lathe machinist reveal the secret, that particular group always buy 50 unit of Blank LW barrel...they turning all of 50 barrel and they choose the best of 5...after they won tournament, they sold the rest of unused 45 barrels and the local PCP chamber which they produce as well.

Can anyone tell me which company makes the best air rifle barrels (either production or custom). What at is the difference between the most accurate and an average barrel? Is there a difference that can be seen under a microscope or is it just random? Is it the barrel that makes most of the difference in accuracy between guns? I.e. If I took my Cricket's LW barrel and it's regulator and put it on a Maraduer, would I replicate it's accuracy? i noticed that LW sells air rifle barrel blanks on their site for $130. These are already chambered, choked and rifled. Would it be a case of just buying the correct die or tap to add the right threads for your action to finish the barrel or is there more too it?

I'd recommend you NOT go the tap/die route. Whatever inaccuracy they start out with will probably get worse and there's little guarantee it will start even remotely true.
