who shoots the tc45????

Hi David.

I have the Texan 45 full length.

I found it to be Very uncomfortable to shoot.

After several months of shooting and finding what ammo it likes, I ponied up and bought a Mad Dog stock.

This made for a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT GUN.!

Shot groups got much better, fit and feel got comfortable and it looks much better!

Mine likes most good ammo as long as it is .457.

Hunter supply is not good as it varies from

.457 to .460 and then fits way to tight.

I have resized them to .457 but the alloy is very hard and they dont shoot IN MY GUN very well.

I say in mine because every gun is different.

One side note- the Hunter Supply 405g cast bullet will punch thru 3/8" steel plate at 25 yards out of the Texan!

The "power wheel" seems to be kind of a novelty and in my opinion is unnecessary in a big bore gun.

I don't see a noticeable difference in fps from low to high. Only thing is lower settings will give you valve lock and piss you off!

I will DEFINITELY be getting a stronger spring soon.

They shoot like a rainbow with hunting weight ammo and are HEAVY.

I am shooting Nielsen Speciality 350g BTHP at 780 fps from a fill pressure of 2800 with golf ball size group at 75 yds.

Get a scope with some lines or dots on TOP and bottom of the crosshairs.

4x is all you need and you wont use "clicks" to adjust for distance as the trajectory is so radical. ie: zeroed at 100 yds - 11" HIGH at 50 yds.

You NEED a BIG air supply tank because you will only get 3 good shots before you need to refill the gun!

It is a blast to shoot and you will undoubtedly have fun.

i have done a lot of shooting with this tc45 sense I put this post up... I can get a Max of 430fpe out of this gun.. great groups at 50yards with the slugs I make... I took this buck Sunday at 30-35 yards with a 300gr cast slug putting out 350+fpe.. it's all about finding the right size bullet for these guns .. mine really seems to like .452. I'm really happy with this gun so far ....

So about 725 fps with the 300's...not bad. Did it require mod's to get to 430 fpe or is that just with a heavier slug? Do anything to quiet it more? What kind of group sizes are you getting at 50 yards?

Best deal I can find on the TC-45 is about $850. Is it worth it? I'm just tuning in a Hercules Bully in .45 but it maxes out at around 240 gr. slugs and under 300 fpe with it's magazine.

I'm getting around 750 fps with the 300gr .. no mods .. the 430fpe is with 405gr slugs only good for 2 shots with slugs that heavy.. I 50 yards I get 1in groups.. I personally really like this gun .. I had the 45 bully but I didn't like it.. I can point u to someone who knows alot about that gun.. I'm going to be trying 220gr slugs tomorrow I believe they will be in the 830-850fps range. If u interested in one check out the Airgun proshop they sell used ones

Thanks. Checked Airgun Proshop website and didn't see any used ones listed. Torn on whether to pick one of these up now or keep fussing with the Bully while waiting for the Umarex Hammer to come back in stock. Guessing there were issues with the Hammer that Umarex is trying to sort out which is why they aren't in high production now.
