N/A Who shot their .177 today ?

I tuned my Bullshark back up for 10gr KO slugs. Not as tight groups at FX 13gr pellets, but its close. But minute of squirrel and deliver an incredible amount of energy for the 21 FPE they leave with.

The eye relief isn't very long with this new Discovery 6x24AO, but I love it so far for backyard pesting 30y and in. And its small enough one ring does just fine.

Yes I do! I’m putting the 2nd one on a Notos that just arrived today. I have two other affordable 6x, a Hammers and an AliExpress “Walther” and the Discovery is much nice at first look and use.
I don’t use illuminated reticle much, but I tried it on the Discovery. There is bleed of the color around the outside.

I eliminated two small lizards in my yard at 17ish yards away. So the reticle is good thickness is not an issue for me.
I have that hammers “ bunny buster “ scope. It’s pretty clear and very usable
Good to hear the mini 6 discovery is working so well for you

I shot a lot today, most noteworthy / amazing 10 grain JSB KO mk 3 all the way out to 134 yards, and with remarkable accuracy all things considered.
But i was using 13 grain Zan to prune the trees down there.
Also blew thru 500 or so pellets, mainly Dead center and JSB heavy 10.6 - 10.4 grain, very small one hole groups at 30 M and tight groups at 55 M

Hey! No one's been shooting their .177s? Well, I got out to try the single shot tray in the Dreamtac. It's a little fiddly, but it reliably loaded and shot everything I put in there. I guess I'll have to learn to trust it. I kept thinking the pellet would turn around the wrong way as it rolled down the slot. But they did not. I also see zero difference in POI all the way out to 50 yards, so I guess my magazine is working real good too. Anyway, this is the weekend I shoot everything down to lower pressures and clean up for winter storage. Out comes the pistol for the winter basement shooting. Too bad I didn't get out for a squirrel hunt this season, but I've been too busy to get away to schwack a few. Maybe next season...

Went out with the Mrod to the back yard and shot some standing offhand and seated offhand. It's sitting at about 2300 PSI, which is where I like it when I store for the winter. If I need it, I've got another 20 good shots, give or take.
I shot the 3" gong offhand at about 25 yards. Same for the Guinness bottlecap, except I was seated. There was a pretty stiff wind blowing, but I managed better than usual.

Tonight, the rifles are getting cleaned and locked up for the winter and the pistol is getting a once over before she sees duty as my basement gun.

I've been shooting the Taipan Vet compact .177 and really enjoying the accuracy of the 10.3 JSBs and JTS 10.4 pellets . Took out the last 2 pests with it . I have been trying the mk3 JSB KO 10.03 slugs and I'm surprised at the accuracy. While not quite as good as the pellets I'm getting dime and nickel size groups at 25- 30y with an occasional outlier. It's been wind and rain for a few days so no doubt things will tighten up group wise without wind . I'm looking forward to using the KOs on the next pest . I'm shooting around 18 fpe with 10.34 at 885 fps but haven't clocked the 10.03 slugs yet . But I'm betting they will transfer energy better than the round nose pellets do . My last 2 groups on the head and tail area are where my final HS adjustment will stay . Center and lower left were at 30y and the rest at 25 .

The groups look pretty bad but being a .177 in the wind I'm OK with them for now .

Avenge-X .177 PCP Rimfire Central 25/50 Challenge at 25-Yards: October Round 1

This is a rimfire challenge, so this is just for fun and giggles.

Rifle - Avenge-X PCP .177 (Base Model: Power Setting Low)
Class: PCP Air gun
Ammo: AA 10.3 Field Heavy Sorted to 10.2 Lubricated
Optic: Vortex Crossfire II 6 to 18
Front Rest: Bald Eagle Front Rest with Sinclair Bag Rider
Rear: Protektor #13 Rear Bag and Custom Bag Rider

The weather was 50 degrees Fahrenheit with about 50% humidity. There was a slight 0 to 5 mph wind. It varied in direction but was largely a cross wind. The rifle is stock, and there are no tweaks to the gun.

The bottle started the day at full capacity. I took a couple of shots to sight in the rifle. The shots all remained on the regulator. Tank pressure started at just under 300 bar. The regular was about 1800 psi. Low Power Setting.

The wind was better today so moved out to 40 yards . Same 10.03 KO slugs.

I shot 3 groups total so not much cherry picking. After reading most field target .177s shoot an inch to an inch and a half at 50y , I'll take it . Next time 50 yards .

I would say where are you seeing most FT setups shoot 1-1.5" at 50yds? Need 3/4" or better to reliably hit those long targets without wind.
Now do that group with pellets! Good shooting no matter what.

Making provisions to go shooting Saturday and also Sunday, these 2 days looked bad but have cleared up in regard to wind, not least Saturday. 😁

I am going to once again shoot light weight pellets and slugs ( 10 gr ) and then later amp up to 13 grain to push it out a bit further.
Need to burn some JTS pellets as i use their excellent screw lid tins for my slugs.
SAT i might well try the 10.4 gr JTS pellets at 100 yards.

Night time temps down to just 3 deg C, so i recon in rat shooting mode we will have to fire up both heat sources in the shed to keep comfortable as all shooters should be.

.177 / 4.5 mm of course.
