Why are FX carbon fiber bottles only rated to 250 bar?

From the information I gather the block and internal components are capable of 300 bar. Airmarksman and other brands offer 300 bar bottles and valves made for the FX airguns. What gives? *No anti-FX speculations please. Just real factual answers. Thanks

I think its a limit of the bottle itself, as there is lots of FX literature claiming some models can use a 300Bar bottle. Inocom, the company that FX uses for bottles makes a 300 Bar rated bottle. My guess is FX has made the switch due to some kind of supply contract with Inocom. I wouldnt be surprised if FX starts selling newer guns with 300 Bar bottles in the future.

They are lighter than the 300bar bottles, plus the gain in capacity from 250 to 300 bar is less than linear.

I thought it had something to do with the original Mk1 and Mk2 reg's Put's to much stress on them at 300bar due to their size and washer stack.

My understanding is that the limitation is due more to the valve than the bottle. If you buy a 300bar bottle, they tend to come with a pretty strong warning to not install a valve from a 250bar bottle, if you intend to go above 250.

FX started using 300Bar rated bottle valves a while ago, maybe a year? The newer version has full threads instead of partial threads of the old style lower pressure valves. FX at one point said they were going to start selling 300Bar bottles as upgrades, but havent so far.

It is probably several reasons. Like cost, and weight reduction, the comparable litle gain for most users going 300 bar. Also the 250 bar bottles work for all FX guns, regardless of having 1, or two regs.
If you use a scuba bottle as fill source, only a few fills will be able to be over 300 bar, while most will be in the 250-170 bar (roughly). As if you fill your bottle at a fire station, you will most likely refill at at 200-170 bar.
You would gain more by having a bigger 250 bar bottle, than to refill a 300 bar fill source more often.

this is just an educated guess but maybe it's limits on the AMP reg? It may not have been designed and/or manufactured to see 300 bar on a regular basis.

You are probably right. Dual reg guns like the impact m3, and maverick, can have 300 bar bottles. But it is probably not worth the effort having a heavier and more expensive bottle on thouse guns, as the added improvement would be minor for most users. Probably more cost effective delivering all guns with the same 250 bar bottles.

If you think about it, it would probably make more sense adding a bigger 250 bottle, than to spend the same money on a 300bar one, with original volume, as you would have bigger volume below 250 bar. The only exception I would believe a 300 bar bottle would have a real advantage is for thouse which have really high regpressures. And for 95 persentage of owners that is probably not the case.

The CF wrapping wall thickness on the FX 480cc bottles is much thinner than most 300 Bar bottles. That's probably why.

My new Impact FX/ M3 came w/ bottle is rated at 310 Bar and fill gauge goes to 300. Sticking to 250 for now wonder if any harm in going 280 or so?

No do not fill that bottle over 250Bar. The "310Bar" is an overpressure test done at the factory. It is not rated for that high of a pressure.
