Why do folks keep bring back old dead threads?

I keep seeing folks comment on old dead threads from few years ago and bring them back. Lots of the time the OP who made that thread isn't even around anymore. So seem pointless to bring back old dead threads thats already been discussed and finished. Are there rules bring back old dead threads? Not sure about AGN but some forums i know have rules against bring back old dead threads.

I don't really see what the issue is. When new members start a topic with questions that have been asked many times, they will be told to do a search. If they search and come across old threads but still have additional questions, they will be told not to bring back old threads. I mean, what's a person to do? It's a discussion forum. Some of the topics are still relevant... some have been confirmed while others have been debunked through time.

Resurrection of the dead make me feel God like 🤤

Then sometimes it breaths new life in a item or peaks fresh interest in something guys may have more to say on it .

If you fire aold thread up and no answers then it fades out. But if a few jump in with something what's the harm ? .

What difference does it make? It wasn't "dead" to the person that responded, so no harm, no foul -

^ That. There are many many threads that I've never bothered to read. (About springers in particular.) Do I care? No. Have I complained about it? Again, no. Not my monkey, not my circus.

How about we quit trying to assert control over that which we have no control. It's not our ride, we can enjoy it or we can hop off.

Cheers,

J~

If the topic is still relevant or evokes relevant questions that have not yet been asked or answered what's the harm? The "learning curve" is always changing & imho, never ending. I, for one, don't mind having my opinion changed or my base of knowledge expanded. If it's RELEVANT who cares how old it is?

Just because the OP may or may not be nere anymore doesn't mean threads shouldn't be brought back. There are plenty of members who can chime in to add new information to those old threads, because things change. What other forums do, and rules look like, is their own business. It does not need to be introduced here, if you want more censorship, this ain't the place.

I agree also with the other responses to the OP

If we are not to post on old posts, and in the same breath we are not supposed to start new conversations about topics previously discussed then what exactly is it that is supposed to be discussed?

I also agree that if you don’t like the topic then don’t read it.

I am also not a fan of someone trying to regulate what others find relevant.

I do wish everyone to have a safe and happy holiday season, and try to remember everyone is different and welcome to share.

Ok was just asking if there is a rule against bring back old threads cause some forums do not allow it cause it flood the main pages with theads thats already been answered and dead. Usually old threads are already discussed and OP found their answers already so just seem pointless if the answer OP seek is already answered within the thread years ago. I'm pretty sure it's new users bring back these old threads but don't people look at the date it's been posted? If it's a few months old that's fine. But if it's few years ago it should be left alone.
