Tuning Why does this Artemis P18 suck so bad?

This gun is regulated yet it shoots 2-3 inch groups at 35 yards with all JSB pellets but the 15.89gr, which it does a quarter. It's not clipping the LDC. 

The adjustment wheel was all the way turned down. What does this wheel do? Can it make an 18gr JSB shoot better? I have all weight JSB pellets. 

I need this gun to shoot OK because I got it half off to make a video. I will for sure get fired if I put this gun on film "as is".

I'm in a tough spot. I talked this giant airgun store into sending me this gun and now it's going to make everyone look bad if I do a video. Terrible way to start things off...

Any help would be appreciated. If I knew some good pellet speeds for different weight JSB's that would be a start.

P.S. The REG dial reads exactly 100 bar (not 110)....I have never seen a gun regulated at 100 bar...???

it's low because all the air leaks out overnight as well...were going to ignore that for now...

the reg is pegged at exactly 100 bar when filled to 250 bar.

3” groups that close isnt tuning. Check the crown for damage/burrs, make sure everything is tight on the scope (mounts,rail,etc), try single loading for now to make sure pellets arent being damaged, clean the barrel for sure. Their cheap guns, qa in those type of manufacturers are awful. Also, not sure how the barrel is mounted but make sure its tight too.

I'll have to check for burrs. Everything else looks good. I cleaned it before I shot it with a crown saver. I checked all my pellets. It's a single shot gun. Fortunately I can see the end of the barrel with the LDC off.

Does this crown look bad?

Great points! I can't even fake a video on a gun that shoots that bad (not that I would). As far as my credibility, I would not show a gun like that on my channel if it shoots that bad. I'm not going to make a video saying "this gun sucks". But I definitely won't make a video saying "buy this gun". In situations like this, (it's not my first), I choose to just say nothing at all if I don't have anything nice to say. = No video. 

That's why you never heard about AEA (from me). They sent me 3 guns. Gun 1 had the scope rail MACHINED ON crooked! It shot 2 feet to the right at 35 yards ...no way to fix it. Gun 2, the folding stock would unfold if you leaned it over and pinch you. Gun 3, I didn't open.

Can you imagine if I even showed AEA on my channel? Some kid would only see the thumbnail, buy the gun, and then injure some small animal with a flyer. I'm not going to be responsible for causing such suffering. Did you know wounded animals can't go to the hospital? It's true! No free health insurance, no ER. Just a cold hole and a giant bullet in your leg. 

Like the Edgun Leshiy dude who shot that Skunk in the leg and then poured bleach all over it to try and get it out from under his deck. His excuse: "I was waiting for a shot for over 2 hours". And I loved it when Bob O sent 2 pellets into another skunk and then watched it limp off. He didn't go after it because "the smell was just too bad". Please lock me in a shipping container with either one of those 2. (not the skunks).

..Yes I will try Some H&N and Premiers. It does appear to be an Air Force copy. So far not shooting like one.

I'm going to try and tune it and then in the video show the whole saga, from 3 inch groups to 1/2 inch...that would be pretty cool if it tuned right up.

I have a pretty short attention span so I'll probably spend 1-2 hours on it and then that will be it. Make it or break it. 

0 miles an hour winds today. I'll post my results this afternoon.

some of those groups were sighting in but 2-3 inches was average official group size. It wasn't the wind.

Its likely a barrel issue. If there's any way to dial back hammer tension, I would turn the regulator up to say 135 bar, and dial the hammer back till you are around 900fps. If it still won't shoot…. That barrel does not look great

I like the sound of that! I don't know about the HST but I'll check. Thanks for the numbers. I'll try it as soon as my neighbors wake up. (7am here)

If it's junk, then making a video saying it's great is not going to do anybody any favors.

Sounds like something that a certain manufacturer does often, the video reviews are always glowing, yet we hear of quality control issues often here. 

Either send it back and try another, send it back and decline the review, or review it as is.

Exactly why I don't put any faith in a video review.
