Why El Cheapo compressors are no bargain

At the end of the day, you get what you pay for. If you use these cheap compressors to only fill the guns directly., the design duty cycle of the compressor will not be exceeded and its use may be several years, In that case, the cheap compressor will be one step above a hand pump. However, using these same compressors to charge a bottle will cause the compressor to overheat and exceed its design specs. It's your call. Time is money and convenience.
No not guns directly anymore. 3 liter, 9 liter and what was supposed to be a 6.8 to arrive yesterday but they sent another 3.

By the way specs on a Gx cs4 is a five hour run time which I have tested. The heat on high pressure head does not increase past the first hour run time. So really why even the five hour. Just the mechanical wear on the rings I suppose.

Just how much do these “ commercial” compressors cost ?

I bought my YH 3 years ago through Walmart and opted for the 3 year warranty for $30 extra. I topped off my 300 bar tanks with it for the first year. Figured I would hit it hard while it was under warranty. I only fill guns with it now and it runs like it did when it was new. If it dies tomorrow I got my money out of it and I would buy another.
I've changed the oil 3 or 4 times and only use the AV compressor oil sold by PA. I cool it with 5 gallons of plain water.

The stress on the compressor increases with pressure.
So longer runs mean there is greater stress and possibly reduction in compressor lifetime.

Yeah Matt , you know now that I think about it I didn’t have the temperature probe on the GX head when I filled the 9 liter for 5 hours 10 minutes. I recalled my post saying I just was feeling the external grease and water fittings.
we’ll know ( temp.) soon as hose and fittings should be delivered by this evening for my needless super cooled Gx cs4i .
All will be done just for the f ck of it.
Would have filled a 6.8 yesterday but Ali said I ordered a 3 liter so that’s going back

That's a difficult question to answer. It depends on where you look, its condition and to a large extent how skilled you are in mechanical ability. New, they are unaffordable for a hobby like ours, $5,000 or more. Used is another story. These high pressure compressors are used everywhere and are available used in many conditions. I found mine as a bare pump in a junk yard for $150. They can be found in government sales as well. They are often mounted in service carts to charge aircraft landing gear or in fire departments and scuba shops. they are everywhere. Normally, they are not repaired when they fail, just replaced. You just have look and be lucky. However their configuration may not be what you want or even complete. You have to be prepared to repair or even reconfigure it as you need it.

As I have said many times before in other threads, HPA is expensive no matter how you get it. You can solve the excess heat problem of the cheap compressors with better cooling, but that takes time and money to do and you still have slow to contend with. If you want speed, you need a big compressor. and it too has to run cool. Then you need all the safety stuff and controls. Just more cost. Even sourcing the parts you need takes time and more cost. These parts are not cheap either. At the end of the day, I consider all the time and effort to achieve HPA just part of the hobby. The compressor is just one part of the puzzle. You still need whips, fittings, tubing, electronics, gages, bottles etc. HPA is expensive and very much the most expensive element in this hobby. If you stay in this hobby long enough, you will come to the same conclusion.

Steve when I and other CHEAP compressor buyers are discussing I’m pretty sure we’re talking about brand new.
So $5000. That’s ridiculous I could buy 10 Gx4 ‘s. And I’ll bet $5 k is lowball. A junkyard ?
I consider the Gx cs4i I have as the most I would spend after learning about the Tuxing and reading about the
Yong Heng it sounds good.
Another thing is the physical size. Man a Gx is handy. You want to go to the range with tank , sure and you can bring along this very small light unit that comes with battery cables.

I blow a lot of bucks on whatever I’m into to occupy my brain.
I have no need at all for a “better” compressor.
If I want to blow some more it’ll be for a Uragan ( could change with a utube vid haaa! )

I'm not sure how much someone really wants to spend for "fast"... but when we take out some guns that are airhogs, we'll take the tank and a cs4-i. Fill the gun, hook the compressor up and let it top off the tank while we shoot.

Endless air supply and usually the tank is topped back off by the time we shoot and reload magazines. Those that have these big super expensive loud and stationary compressors are still limited to what they can carry in their tanks. Sure you can fill faster, but your air supply is limited to what is in that tank until you go home, and throw on a set of ear muffs to refill those bottles fast. That's the main reason I did not like the YH, it's faster but loud and you're not taking that thing with you anywhere easily either.

Everyone has their own idea of value and use. I think the vast majority of users do not need big, expensive compressors to enjoy this hobby at all. Just back to the K.I.S.S concept and the hobby will continue to grow.

Yep. If you have 2 large tanks shooting at a remote location probably never run out of air. Use one tank shooting, while the other one is filling connected to your vehicle. When the 1st tank get too low the 2nd one will be full. Switch and repeat.

If you want to go green at 500+W solar panel may do the trick on a sunny day.
