They really do make kick ass taco meat too. Braise them, and then a light fry up with a bit of spice.. Oh baby.

Why? Are you trying to show us that your favorite thanks giving meal is Pecan crusted squirrels? If so then you gonna need a whole lot more squirrels.

You are lucky. I have 5 pecan trees that produce very well. I bought my place in 2011 and the number of good pecans I harvested in all these years would literally be less than that one bucket. I guarantee you I kill at least 60-70+ a year off my pecan trees, does no good. There are just too many of them where I live and I never put a dent in the population.

Last year, I killed about 40 in the month of October. I'm retired and guard my tree constantly. This year I'm averaging one or two a week, the numbers are way down. There were times I had 4 in the tree stripping every green pecan weeks before they were ripe.

I bet a few AGN members could solve that problem. Would be an excellent reason for an airgun road trip. Should consider it, I bet a lot of shooters would be interested. I'll bring my HW30 and show those rodents some What For!

The problem with that is after 11 years of shooting them all year long, they are all scared all the time. If one sees a person, they are all gone in the blink of an eye. Same after one shot. Won't come back for a LOOOONNNGGGG time. I count myself lucky when I sneak out on the deck and get two, the second one is invarably a bad shot at a fast mover, hear the thud but it escapes to die slow. If it didn't cost so much, I'd just sneak out with my 20 guage and walk around the side of the house. I'd be able to get two everytime as they were running from the big tree to the woods. Did that with an old box of birdshot a friend gave me, talking carboard shells old. They all worked and it was fun, but I'd be danged if I'd buy 20 guage shells just for that.
Earlier this year I got a bunch of them at once, I hope that doesn't happen again actually,. They found something that they liked so much they were willing to commit mass suicide to get it. They did a lot of damage to my blueberry bushes.

wouldn't a peanut feeder work? All the pest videos show a continuous line of squirrels showing up for peanuts being shot in the head from close quarters. After a few refills on the feeder they would be under control.

I shoot them because they're destructive. They figured out where my father keeps the seed bag and promptly chewed through the vent on the back of his shed to get to them. They also have a nasty habit of digging up the back yard to bury seeds and it ends up looking like a mini minefield plus chasing off the birds he buys the seed for.
I've taken out 88 this year so far. Seems to have worked pretty well since it's usually 4-5 days between seeing any debating whether they should try and have a closer look.
