Why the 2 step verification?

It is a pain, but it's a necessary pain. Out of defiance, do the monthly verification while sitting on the toilet.
Really though, I applaud the management here for using such to keep us all as safe as possible here.

It helps prevent your account being hacked and resulting fraudulent use of the site. That said, if you really don’t care you can disable it under Account > Security. Or for other members reading this not getting verification you can activate it here.

Interesting. I didnt realize it could be disabled, thanks! But if I do that, I wouldnt want someone stealing my login and coming in making sarcastic comments in posts...

I have nothing important here, so a take over will just mean i will have to notify admins so they can terminate me and i can create a new account using the one mail i have.
It is only every couple of weeks i have to go this route so it do not bother me, but maybe if i was on a POS connection i would be miffed, but i am not though also not a big fan of the meager 1 gbit / 500 mbit i have on cable, looking to get 2.5/2.5 gbit on fiber, at the same price, but this necessitate finding a new place to live.
Google ASO also want me to do all kinds of stuff to " safeguard " my stuff, especially entering my phone number, those punks dont know i only have a phone number out of sheer necessity and when that stop POOOF and my stinking phone is gone.
I couldent care less if my youtube channel was hijacked, i do not make 25.000 USD a month on it from googles dirty wallet. They can keep their money.

Just think of it as adding a Dead lock to your front door. Another layer of security! Very nice.
