Why would you sell?

Sometimes i just get bored of something and want to try something new. Have something that i didnt like as much as i thought i would. I dont want to spend $1500+ everytime i want to try something new or hold onto something i dont like. Ive had a big collection and have thinned down to 2-3 for my needs and cycle from there

Same as @Scott.t, i have had big collections of guns and now I just keep what i really like and use regularly. I have cleaned a few deceased family member's houses that were hoarders and I never want my kids or family to have to clean anything like that or just deal with the clutter. I keep just needful things that are used on the regular.

Considering the vast selection in the classifieds section I'm left wondering why some of you part w your guns

Obviously it's often a means to clean out some space & acquire some spending cash to maybe try something different. But I see a lot of newer, high-end guns that come up which begs the question in my mind of what's the point of getting rid of a perfectly good gun? As a group there it seems like there are often comments made in reference to how expensive the costs of this activity can be, but it's funny how we tend to fully throw logic out the window when considering gun replacement costs.

Do golfers go thru clubs in the same way that we collectively go thru guns?
I am terrible about selling air guns for many of the reasons stated above. Too lazy, too difficult to do, too costly to ship, wish I had one back after I sold it, etc.

I have too many to shoot now but they give me something to look forward to and put on my bucket list to do.

I was asked the other day how many I have. I said, “Mmmm, not many.”
That drew some stinkeye.

I hear from orher couples there are a few defensive questions that could delay the trouble heading your way for having A LOT of airguns.

Questions like:
● "Honey, how many purses do you have?"
And:
● "Seetheart, how many shoes do you have in all those closets?"
Even:
● "How many pairs of ear rings do you have?"

In my case, these questions are totally useless — because my frugal minimalist wife married a shopper and hoarder.

But another of her qualities is patience — so I'm all good.
Better than good, actually.

I like trying out and experiencing different guns. It's not so much being in search of the ultimate in accuracy and expecting a new gun to achieve it, as even though I do love accurate airguns, there are already many out there that are well beyond anything I am or ever will be capable of. For me it's more about learning first hand about different styles of airguns and what works and what doesn't. I like history too, so old guns of any variety fascinate me. I love trying out that new gun and being blown away by it. As often as not however I end up being disappointed instead and I'm getting to the point where I'm going to have to start getting rid of some of the guns that I'm not thrilled with.

My mission today is to sell a few of my non airgun guns. I have 3 shotguns picked out to go. I'm not going to go into makes and models because this is an airgun forum and I want to respect that.
Two things to note...
These are not the only guns of this type that I own.. these are just 3 that I don't use or have doubles of.
I only use this type gun for critter control that an airgun is most likely not up to the task.
The other thing is that the funds will go towards my airgun hobby/addiction.
I don't have anything specific in mind that I want but there are always the times of opportunity with narrow windows that it's nice to have the funds available to jump on them.

Why would ones sell there stuff? Well for me i dont like to let things sit unused and or with no plans on using. I cant shoot 5 rifles at the same time. and airgun values drop rather quick.. So instead on holding to stuff i do not use i will give them away or sell them to someone that could use or wants whats offered. Others reason for selling is sometimes there is something else that peeks my interests and instead of asking the wife to drop 1-2.5k on a new rifle ill just sell of something to cover most the expense and that way i do not need her permission🤣.

This is a good way to say what I was thinking. Between powder burners and air rifles, I can’t shoot them all. I see them and ask “Why do I have that much tied up, when I’m not even using it?”

This golf question was a great point too, because I got back into golf more this year, and it really took a lot of time away. I had to upgrade my gear. Like rifles, I buy used to save money too.

I've been buying and selling airguns since 1978, just turned 79. Won an air tank a few years ago and got into PCP's but never really took a liking to them, they seemed to cut down on my shooting as I was always worrying about running out of air. Back to spring piston guns now but have two tanks to sell yet. Up next will be a new R9 to break in and then tune.

probably kinda like people get a new cell phone every month lol, that's why I stepped away from the hobby for like a year. seems like every time a new rifle came out I was buying it and then something better came out and selling it to get the better rifle until it became an obsession and money pit and the wife caught on how much I was spending on so called kids BB guns lol and saw myself heading to divorce court for my impulse buys lol...

As with someone else's response, sometimes it just boils down to having a desire for something different and not having shot a certain one in some time makes it easier to let go. Just replacing one that gets little use for something new that would likely be that new experience trade off for the old unused which becomes someone else's new experience. I made a short story long I know. Sorry!
