Why you should eat canned goods.

Of you remove the lids and want to shoot them quick and easy I use cheap masking tape and stick them on a square of cardboard as a bulls..

Just got back inside. The .30 rips up the old tin can. It's even bleeding mud. I usually fill them with dirt, stabilizing them. When it's hot you get a nice puff of dust. When it's wet they bleed.

Never considered filling the can with “stuff” to stabilize one that is standing on end.

I’m going to put some slingshot ammo (steel balls) inside a soda can. Aluminum soda cans don’t make as nice a sound when shot with pellets as steel cans do, but they rattle loudly if even one steel ball is inside. I used to love the sound of slingshotting a can that a ball had already penetrated but didn’t exit. Sometimes a pellet shot from the P3 punches a soda can, making a big dent instead of a hole. If a steel ball(s) is already sitting inside, the ball might make more noise than the denting does.

Off to find the slingshot ammo...

Thirty-two caliber lead balls are my preferred sling shot ammo. They hit with authority.

I shot a steel can yesterday to reacquaint myself with “normal” shooting, i.e., outside, standing, no support, 33’ and 42’ distances. It’d been more than two weeks since I last practiced offhand standing, or outdoors at all. Indoors is limited to 17’.

30 shots, of which 29 hit the can, cut a good part of it across. I decided it was time to cut the darned thing all the way today, something I’d never done except on a soda can. It took me another 35 to 40 pellets to finish it off! The more holed it got, the harder it was to aim at the tiny areas of remaining metal. When it got down to literally holding together by an impossibly thin bit—like 1 mm wide—I relented on the standing-up part and sat on the ground for more stability, AND I moved myself closer than 33’ for better sight. Didn’t measure distance of the final parting shot but it was probably about 20’ from the muzzle to the thread of metal.

The lesson for me was to not throw away seriously abused cans anymore. Shooting to cut it in two pieces provides an automatically increased level of difficulty.

Next time I start on a fresh can, I will go in deliberately trying to cut it in fewer shots.

Ok this is funny 😀😀
Pro Tip - Campbells soup cans fit inside a Hungry man soup can. They are incredibly tough when stacked like this. Plus the sound changes to a deeper note when hit. Strung up with para cord they are more fun than a barrel of monkeys any day.

More fun then a barrel of monkeys...lol

I never got that as fun. Monkeys snatching , pulling things , swinging all over , hollering and screaming , then there need to throw there poo and everything ? How the heck is that fun ?

Not to say it's not funny seeing happen to somebody else 🤤.

Now seeing that for a laugh would be as fun as a barrel full of gamos...🥴

Never played Barrel of Monkeys? One of the best games ever! So easy it is hard.

When we moved back in 1999 we found a case of ild beer cans left over from a friends wedding. Probably over 15 yrs old and yes it was bad, but still had lots of fizz !! Shot a number of them which made awesome foaming explosions !! Also set a few into a campfire with the pull tab ends down. Beer rockets !!
Some shot well over 200 ft in the air with a foam trail !! Gotta love old cans that are still full....
