Wildcat=best platform for hunting?

I never considered getting the wildcat but when I began looking for a platform that would allow me to comfortably shoot free hand and will also be compact and quiet, the wildcat looks like the best option?

It's the lightest and possibly the most quiet with a huggett moderator (a sacrifice in shortness, but still overall shorter than every other platform ) I suppose the only concern would be build quality.

Any one know of a better platform?

I too am torn between rifles (Wildcat, Vulcan, Impact or Mutant), and i am ready to buy. My only two concerns with the wildcat are I don't tinker so I can't adjust the regulator (also no tools) and second the cocking mechanism linkage is not as good as what is on the Impact. The impact is too new and I would venture to say 10% of its owners are having issues (seals leaking, magazine fit issues, regulator fluctuating (this may just be to the breaking period).

Jclee what is your take on CZ barrel vs smooth twist?

I was looking at the Wildcat for a while but went ahead and got the Vulcan. The Vulcan is short at about 27 in long not sure if thats shorter than the Wildcat .22 or not. It's Pretty quite in .25 but it is a little pingy. I hear the company is putting de-pingers on the hammer spring now so that should help. And the .22 cal Vulcan is said to be quieter than the .25 Vulcan. for walking in the woods it's great and super accurate even at long range. I think it might be a bit heaver than the Wildcat but not sure. it does have the forward cocking in bolt action. I would rather have it a side lever but that's personal preference. Just a suggestion you might want to consider. I've never personally shot the Wildcat though.

Hi Jclee I have the Wildcat in .22, with scope and long shroud, weights in around 8.5lb. I have taken a number of rabbits, hare, pest birds and turkey's with it, using 18gr JSB's out to 50+ yards. I think it is great in the field and very accurate, when the shooter does their part. I did make a sling for mine, I have also used a pair of Allen bino straps and the chest strap on my game bag to assist in carrying. All of which work and come in handy but I have never found the WC to be too heavy in the field. I am usually hunting my areas walking around and carry it across my chest using both arms, kind of military style. I never felt this style of carry suited a long rifle but it does the WC. Just my thoughts . Cheers
