Tuning wildcat m3 sub 12 tune?

Hi All....Looking into shooting sub 12 for close quarters ratting...as stated ...WC M3 .177 compact classic.(tube)..can this be done with tuning or would parts need to be changed.....IE; bellvils .hammer spring. Hammer???......i'm new to this so excuse what seems to be dumb rookie questions...all i know is I'm addicted....already..lol ...Saw the amp 2 regulator set up on Huma air for sub 12....& i've seen lighter springs on bagnall & kirkwood.....am I on the right path?????any & all suggestions welcome...thnx in advance

I don’t think it’s doable in 22 cause it’s 50-60bar, but you might get away will it at 75bar in 177. I assume this isn’t a legal need for 12? In which case, couldn’t you settle for 13-14? I’ve had my WC BT at 14 with stock reg. Frankly, they seem to shoot well with a suboptimal (inadequate hammer) tune. Plus, it doesn’t matter if the ES isn’t the best when the target is close.

Yes I did....at 120ish..pw on 7/6 ihsa.. ALL the way in.....beasts' are 920 ish ..monsters on 6/5about 840-880..10,3 pw3/4 800-840...8.3 pw1/2 bt 860........I can only go to 80bar on reg before it wants to dump......i'm playin with the 10.3s right now....typing in between fills.......Know keep in mind...2 months ago I gt my first pellet gun since the crossman 760 days......that was more my speed...pump n shoot....idiot proof.....but this cat has got its claws, pads deep in my a%%.....this is great....learn a little something everyday.....then crs sets in the nxt morning........lol.....

Uk guns have thinner also maybe less bellvilles. They run 50-55bar in 22, 60-65 in .177 (which req more push due to lower area) . You could probably fudge the reg - see sub12airgunning vids on YT - M3 or Maverick (?) reg rebuild vids. However, I’d do it with lower hammer. It’ll be plenty accurate to 40y.

Tune it to the highest acceptable speed at 82bar. The closer you are to the velocity peak, the less variation you’ll see as bottle pressure drops!

You will lose some accuracy anyway shooting slow out of a liner with that twist rate. They are designed to have the least disruptive interaction between drag and spin stabilization between 800 and 900 fps.

Actually pretty easy to do.

1. Reduce hammer preload to minimum or reduce the preload screw till it doesn’t reduce speed anymore between 1 and 2 then add a little

2. Increase reg. Yes you read it correctly, increase the reg to 140ish and the speed should drop low enough. Might have to a tiny big higher. Or increase reg pressure till the speed drops to where you want it.

Once you found your low tune then Turn up the power wheel to shoot heavier stuff and it’s really that easy. It’s extremely efficient, quiet and very high shot count too. And as you turn up the power wheel the power increases very rapidly.

cool....weevil....when i said ihsa..internal hammer spring adjuster..shuda said spring cap adjuster screw....my bad....sooo...i resorted to THE one thing i know i can understand/trust....NUMBERS...on paper....finally....i started at 80 bar.10.3 gr...(pre load adjuster...ihsa,,,,,spring cup adjuster screw....1.5mm grub screw) turned clockwise ALL the way in,,,shoot 14 shots ..going up on the PWA...1 burner & 1 i record...back out(cc) one full turn...repeat the 14 shots......I'm STARTIN TO SEE A PATTERN........the ratio of REG pressure to adjuster screw.....i got to 100 bar& 2 turns out from flush im seeing numbers that are looking correct....pw 1..765..2 863..3 ..885 4..944...5 is 958..6 ...967...7 is 970.... QBALL....TOMORROW.....the 5 bar reg bumps up..& shot strings are changing the behavior of the pressure & dwell times of hammer strike( I think).....My pre load adjuster screw....ihsa...spring cap adjustment screw is set like this....I take the cocking lever & put just enough pressure on it to seat/barely touch the cup dead against the power wheel.....turn adj screw counter clockwise (out)till it just touches the cam ramp on adjuster hole or 0 if you prefer, I gota about .030 thousanths ..1/32 gap....i can see & feel the probe moving incrementaly with each step up on power wheel...till it falls off back to zero or original starting point...QBALL....were headin to 140 bar.....Ive already figured how to cheat...loading heavier pellets at lower power setting...to get the low numbers...(proportion to ratio formula).....Im kinda screwed being deaf....ldc has to come off for me to evn hear a difference...sometimes at 4/5/6 pws..and the beasts' or monsters.....i hear a sound i think im "supposed" to be listening for....justa slight puff or poof ...i instantly imagined what an elephant siitin in a mud puddle an fartn would sound like....nota rush sound & that crack...but a smoother...softer sound....GUYS...i reeally appreciate aaall the input.....and tomorrow im back at it....I'll update for your kindness in trying to assist the greeny from pulln wat little hair i have left.. out...weevil...qball....☺️thnx..

Ok....weevil....qball........Great news.....after thinkn about the advice givin.......I realized I was thinkn WRONG......(some peoples kids)....MY (mis)conception was low pressure/low speed.....Q says jack that s*%t up...yea 140 up.....you heard me right...lol.......I went to sleep thinkn about that.....5 am It hits me.....all that adjusting i did was wasted time.....there was no pressure to adjust...dumb*%$.....
I was trying to do what weevil said but my results were not linear at all....once i got to 115b..it was like the monty python scene. when the fake clouds parted & the beam a light comes blastin thru...lmao.....For months Ive been watching every vid we mentioned....But it was what both of you said... and it was how you said it.....that woke me up.....Here's the results of your help.....at 118b & the grub screwed out CC 2.5 turns from completely turned in..8.3 fx's. PW 0-7 (yea im countin the adjustment hole....its there)..Im gona try an attach my cheat sheet insteada typin all this....So...The well deserved thanks is here....Guys... what you gave me....is what i been looking for....thank you both....Now what little i do know, will get me moving in a sure direction.....Now that things are makin sense....THE REAL FUN begins.......thank you...mike...

Weevil....I felt that exact thing....it just sips air now ..ran 3 fx mags & 2 of Orions and was still on the tube reg jst kissn 120..??.....At PW 6/7 on most different weights...it spits a little more for sure....but the rest is real...smooth/relaxed feelin....im sure that sounds lame..but effortless maybe is a better term.....There were a lot of speeds that looked promising....Gettn those 8.4 down so low amazed me...at one stage they werent evn registering...it recorded to 600 a time or two...but at 1/1.5 turns out.....u heard the hammer more than the air.....Thats the linear thing i was talkn about....now i can "hopefully start learning to control it"....thanks to both you boys...

Good looking strings! Let’s say your goal was shooting ammo X at the lowest setting and currently it’s lower than your goal. All you have to do is increase your preload so your lowest setting is your goal, this moved your hammer/power wheel adjustment range up a little to give you more power on your highest setting. You should try NSA 12.5 grain slugs, they are lasers with your tune, now you can hit stiff at 100 yards with ease.

Those "Good looking" strings: Are courtesy of you both....(Just saw I missed beerthiefs reply....sorry man..Yes I did but.) id get a couple speed increases, but NO Pressure to manipulate "properly"......Guys...Here's somethin I thought was cool...maybe you will too..(I put a console in my boat...had to cut a 20" square out of it to stow batts n stearing n crap) gel coat & fiberglass was 3/16...0.187....it DESTROYED the gelcoat..but didnt penetrate....but the backside.....It blew EVERYBIT of the resin out of the glass matting....at 660-700 ....heres the pellets I picked up....lol...pellet to the right is my maverick .30 compact....the chunks nxt to that are from mav on a bench at 42 yards..( 8 shots if i remember correctly) dug out of the 2x8 BEHIND the 2x8 it blew threw like nothing.....@ 855fps...Put my 600mm on..it jumped to 930/935...938 was the highest deviation.......(the mav & my m3 Impact(700 tensiond barrel shootin 40 zans @ 1030) I DO NOT TOUCH..except pull the trigger on those...SO....If you think this .177 "epiphany" is as cool as I do....BOTH of ya pat urselves on the back,,,cuz really....you guys did this..not me.....thanx again....I'll keep playin an do some updates, if your interested in what your benevolence did for a complete stranger.....
