Tuning Wildcat MK1 .25 tuning

I finished tuning last night and was excited to get some great numbers compared to my previous number without the PP. Reg set at 125 bar, 45 shots, Av 840 fps, JSB 34 gr, SD 4, and ES 15. I stopped at this setting and mounted the scope. This morning to shot this 8 shot group in very little wind at 50 yards and I'm disappointed. What do you think could cause great numbers on the chrony but a really bad group?

I'm going to bump up the reg to 130 and test again.

Just because you have consistent chrony number does not mean you are harmonically tuned. I run into that all the time and just move on starting with some new velocity numbers until I get both the consistency and accuracy at the same time. Although these days I usually tune by shooting groups at 30 yards until I get a tiny group then go out to 100 looking for the same. Both ways werq and both take allot of ammo and allot of air.

My Mk1 would not shoot the 34 grainers either. I wanted to keep the wear and tear on the gun and o-rings to a minimum because the gun always seemed and felt a little fragile to me so I just shoot the 25 grainers through it. The accuracy is fantastic with 25 grainers off that old smooth twist barrel and I don't feel slighted in the least that it only shoots the 25 gr version. When I want to shoot the 34 grainers I'll just use the Impact, R5M or the Cricket.

Before I installed the PP, I had this gun's reg set at 150 bar and the HS in 5 turns in and it was hole in hole accurate with the JSB 34 grains traveling at an average of 880 fps. I was hoping to get the same accuracy but at a lower reg pressure but I believe the 34 gr needs to be at a faster speed. I just thought this was odd that great chrony numbers doesn't mean you'll get great groups

Just to be clear I use the chrony for consistent FPS! If I don’t have consistent results then there’s nothing to work with! After that then i start shooting groups. Now if I do not believe that I’m getting the results that I’m trying to achieve then I’ll make more adjustments. If theirs no problem or adjustments needed i myself prefer that the gun tells me what it likes as for as the groups. And that’s with the mk1 25cal, for the gun in question that is what it likes. If you have luck at higher speeds more power to you my did not.

My buddy’s 25 wildcat MK2 was slicing playing cards set up sideways at 55 yards, shooting the JSB 34 gr MK2 Heavys at 925 FPS. My own 25 cal MK2 wildcat shoots the heavys at 940-945, but I am more set up for the 28 grain H&N Barracuda Hunter extremes at 1001 FPS.

This is my buddy’s son, the day they came out to pick up the gun from me. He’s the one that sliced up that card. I triple dog dared him after this feat, to snap off a bottle cap off of an empty Perrier water bottle set out at 60 yards, without tipping the bottle over. It took him three shots till he finally got it. All we saw was a piece of plastic fly up, and the bottle stayed upright. He sheared off the cap.

My point with all this, is these wildcats like speed, high speed, and still maintain decent to great accuracy. I want to add that the superior liner helped with the accuracy.

At 925 FPS he still gets 32 shots, four whole mags.
