Tuning Wildcat MK3 Sniper .25 34gr pellet tune

I just received my MK3 Sniper in .25 and according to the sellers paper it was tuned for 25.4gr pellets @ 910 FPS. Reg at 105bar Hammer #6

I shot is over my chrono it’s averaging 895fps so pretty close. It is shooting very well, single ragged holes at 35yards with 25.4gr pellets. I tried the 34gr and they are only moving at 810fps with the hammer up at #7.

My question is I was hoping they would tune it for the 34gr pellets. Will a stock WC MK3 be able to push 34gr pellets at or above the 870fps mark? I have an Avenger shooting the 34gr pellets at 850fps and I was hoping the Wildcat would give me a little more power than the Avenger.

Congratulations on the Wildcat! It’s one of my favorite rifles. Have some info for you, but I never shot the mk2 heavies at full power before I added parts to mine. I have a 2.5” aftermarket plenum and huma transfer port. With those upgrades and my reg at 150 bar, I can push the mk2 heavies at 970fps. I have a video showing this tune and the groups I was getting, here’s the link. https://youtu.be/1k3fuB6sgw4

I hope that helps a bit. Before the upgrades with the reg at 150 bar and power wheel on 7, I was able to shoot the .25 cal FX Hybrids at 955fps, after the upgrades I was pushing them at 1055fps.

Thanks for the reply! I have watched most your videos. Unfortunately all the tunes I can find online are with mods, I am hoping to see what it will do before I try an upgrade.

I was told by the shop that this gun likely has the dual transfer port stock from the factory but I haven’t tried to look. Before I received it they said the last few wildcats had shown up with the Dual transfer port from the factory, but they ship with the pellet hole in use.

I may have to take part of the day off work and run into the local shop and talk with one of their techs.

The “problem” with the Wildcat and heavier ammunition hence higher fpe’s is that the standard plenum is too small to get things done well and in full balance when the tune needs to get up too much for the intentions of the design of a wildcat.

I don’t know exactly the standard plenum in cc from a WC Mk3 bu I would guess around 15 cc. Now if we follow the “ golden rule” of 0,5 till 1.0 cc per fpe in order to get optimum balance in your “air management” you could assume that 15 cc is not enough to manage let’s say 50-60 or even 70fpe well. When you are planning to shoot over, I would say , 30 FPE I would look for additional plenum volume in the after mods market. ( I remember by the way that Whimpanzee also had an additional external 2.5” plenum installed by FX USA support)

Out of the box you would not have any issues with a Impact or Maverick as they have ample “in house” plenum space. Enough to drive very heavy .35 bullets out at good speeds ! Maybe the Wildcat was not intended to shoot with other than standard jsb pellets from the start and there is a good reason to want to shoot “just” those and be a happy shooter.

135 bar reg and install this setup:

Along with hammer spring tuning. You’ll easily get in the 900’s ft/sec range.

I have Wildcat’s that do this. A plenum extension is a easy and practical way to gain power.

Also a dual hole transfer port ( with or without matching probe) is an additional mod that will provide additional power in an easy way. Mind that with the HUMA xl plenum you will lose some air volume in your airtube but it works miracles. ( I think it is about 30cc) In case you place a huma reg plus XL plenum in your WC MK3 you obviously lose the possibility to adjust the reg externally with an allen key. This means that for adjustments of your reg you have to take out the HUMA reg. ( easy but not as comfy as the original set up) .

I have wimpanzee’s WC. I have made a couple mods to his already great setup. I am at 135 reg shooting NSA 33.5 slugs at 910. Giving me about 61 fpe. Same slug at 170+ reg setting I was getting over 74fpe. I did get the upgraded power adjuster from FX. Not that it really gave me any extra. But it was for piece of mind. I had the old wheel shimmed so it would not rotate when putting the rifle in its case. .

nice to hear Whimpanzee’s rig has found a happy new owner. Has there been an upgrade on the power adjuster ? What was that upgrade ?
