Wildcat MKIII Huma Powered

Iguanas are everywhere in Puerto Rico! They call them "street chickens" there - so many of them get flattened on the roads - you see roadkill iguanas constantly. We were there for a week and even with the little driving we did I hit two of them. One ran out from the ditch (direct hit) and another was in my lane on the freeway and I could not avoid it. I tried to take him directly under the vehicle, but he must have moved as I got his very large tail.

If I ever go back, I'm incorporating a iguana airgun hunt to my stay!

Ok back from hunt, dead Iguana all over the place due to accuracy of PCP's. Ha ha good fun. Ok tweaked my Wildcat a bit and she has come into harmony with me, meaning feel and sound of gun. I only shoot mkii heavies for this info: Reg is still at 150 bar turned out HS and brought average fps from 835 to 829, ES is 12, SD 3 and shot count 42 before falling of reg. I can now punch 3/8 holes at 50y and 3/4 at 80y. The gun is a killer. Next weak I will try the reg at 145 bar and also some HS adjustments to trim the ES off some if possible. The gun is good to go but I will try a bit more tuning. The reg gauge mounted on gun works great and think it is a great resource to me. Hope this thead has helped anyone reading it. I have a great time testing and tuning these guns.

Wow Robert congratulations on taming that Wildcat of yours...she fought with fangs and claws and there was fur flying everywhere, but you finally calmed her down and now she is purring like a little kitten! :) I wouldn't worry about tweaking her any further to get a tighter ES because she is as accurate now as you could hope for. But if you want to see your ES drop to 6 ft/s and your SD drop to about 1.6 or so, weigh some pellets out to within a tenth of a grain and sort them accordingly. Then when you shoot them over your chrony the numbers will be almost the same because all the pellets weigh the same. Make sense? Think about it this way...do you think your chrono is going to show the same velocity numbers for pellets that weigh .5 to 1.5 grain difference? No of course not, because the heavier ones go slower and the lighter ones go faster. And I personally prefer to clean all the factory junk off my pellets which keeps your barrel much cleaner without a buildup of crap inside to degrade your accuracy. Just a thought is ...why would anyone want anything else? Wildcats Rule!
Always the best, Chuck

Your getting REMARKABLE results Robert. I'm striving to match what you have now. Trouble is now I have the three Wildcats (177,22 and 25 ) Don't know which one to tinker with. Just don't shoot anything but the Wildcats anymore. Thinking of selling the Crown and Impact just because they are never used anymore. Keep pushing Chuck and keep us informed. Sylvan

Eight shots at 50y three clicks down and #9 in the red. Good to go on Wildcat Huma regulated.

...and just think, you did that without cleaning or weighing or lubing your pellets, or using an X barrel! I bet you can't wait to get her out to a hundred yards on a calm day and have some more fun. I guarantee you can hit a soda pop can at a hundred every time...and I doubt you would ever be hunting anything smaller than that, or taking a hundred yard shot at any game smaller than a pop can either! Great job! And with your Huma reg you can put that rifle in the closet for a couple months, and take it out and it will do exactly the same thing every time...with no rude surprises.
Best regards, Chuck

Tomiboy if you compare 34gr 25 cal to 24gr in your balistic calculator you will see energy for my down range kills is usually 10ft/lbs more. Helps buck wind also. I run my guns at 50ft/lbs and that will pass through a coon head at 60y every time. Wrong section for hunting but you get my drift. The only real drawback is on FX products the sweat spot for heavies is small, just take your time while tuning and you are rewarded. People all have reasons for different pellets but I am a hunter/pest controller that uses nightsite equipment a lot and it produces clean kills with very little extra air consumption. As for mk1 I feel the skirts are to large in my products and i do not like the friction going past the breach O-rings and they do not shoot as well at the velocities I use. Hope that helps on your choices.

You did a great job on that gauge install buddy!!

I just installed the HUMA reg in my Wildcat. Though I cannot go out and test it because the hammer spring adjustment plug stripped out on me even after I applied generous amounts of heat, and using the proper size Allen key.

That metal sure seemd soft.

Not sure of the best way to get it out now.
