Wildcat MKIII Sniper .25 - Performance & Accuracy (post-mods)

Hi Joe,

i hope you can shed some light here.

today all of a sudden out of the blue the actuating rod that connects the trigger with the sear was disconnected on the bacaide of the wildcat. The trigger was lame and when I removed the stock I saw a tiny pin laying in the stock . Hat tiny pin was supposed to connect the the rod and the other part it connects to. I could allign the hole in both parts and just push in the pin again with no effort. Nothing holds the pin as it is not screwed or conical or any other security. I just put a slight dot of glue on both sides and hope it will not come out again. Is there anything wrong with my specific construction/ parts or is this the way it is made ?

thanks in advance

yalel

I have had similar things happen to a few of my FX’s. Usually it is the pin on the cocking lever that starts to wiggle loose. Luckily I have never lost any and noticed it before it completely falls out and is gone forever.

What has worked for me a good epoxy covering on the pin and into the hole in which it inserts. Wiping off the excess. Then letting it cure completely before use. Fortunately this has worked and most of the time the problem was solved.

The home remedy of de-greasing parts and a spot of glue usually worked. Loctite on the pins never gave me much success, more designed for screw threads.

Good luck, & don’t lose those pins!

Joe

Do you need a cylinder / block adapter drill if it has a small hole , such as small on adapters of other models FX ? If it's such a small hole the added plenum is worthless.

Never been a problem with my WC MKII or MKIII. The air pressure flows well enough I suppose. Kind of like in the micro bore hoses that we fill our PCP’s with. Wouldn’t say the plenum extensions are useless. My foot pound energy shot up from out-of- box 50-51fpe to 67-68fpe after the install.

That part you pictured may be for the UK 12 foot pound version Wildcats? Could be mistaken, but mine has a full bore hole, not the tiny hole like the one in in that photo. But IDK?? Non-issue for me..

Best of luck Atom

Happy to hear that this is not a specific issue on my riffle. As I said I put a little dot of glue on both sides . Would believe this will hold this little pin in place as there is no stress on it other than gravity 😀. Why not a small screw like used on glasses for example... this pin is just slit through the 2 parts without any hold. ! Come on FX that should be done better...coming from an Edgun this kind of constructions look a bit over flimsy/ weak/ simple) BUT.... the Wildcat MK3 shoots like no other gun I had before... Terrific !

Maybe Joe do a prevention job on yours as well ..... like you said ...better not loose this little pin...

when you take of your stock you see immediately what I mean

Hey Joe,

Curious what software/App is providing these graphs for you?

BZ on the wrap up of your MKIII.

My MKIII Compact has been my most enjoyable investment for a long while. These things shoot amazing and it has been such a great tool for pest removal. It is a joy just to shoot water filled soda cans at different ranges to keep my off hand shooting exercised and accurate. Thanks for all the effort sharing all that you have on the MKIII it is great information for all the rest of us shooting them now.

I like it WC3, he now has a great platform much better from Impact, but would like to have a larger plenum with a bottle . It would look like Dream...

FX probably could easily make a Wildcat MKIII bottle if they wanted to. I’m surprised they haven’t.

It’s the ChairGun mobile application.

A Apple iPhone app. Don’t know if it is on other mobile platforms??

I just had a look on the cocking lever connects and indeed those pins do look a bit vulnerable . Do you think Joe that dripping a bit of epoxy or else would give prevention on getting problems in the future or would lubing them be a better preventive way of treating the connections of the cocking lever ?

I would leave well enough alone. Lubricating my own with good ol’ Ballistol is probably what made it start slipping out. (Ballistol is a great lube) I would just keep an eye on it, just incase it ever happens to yours. Then you’d know what to do. FXUSA would probably send you all the pins you need if you where to loose one. Don’t worry be happy!

I'm interested to see if the new barrel band improves accuracy. stays the same, or creates weekly POI shifts.

Accuracy is the same to better. Only thing is it is very important on trigger pull and follow through to pay close attention to those shooting behaviors. Because it will put the pellets exactly where you aim so improper shooting habits or techniques will be accentuated. The gun will definitely tell you what your doing wrong. I don’t follow what you mean by a weekly POI shift? The barrel band is solidly attached and will not move with even a somewhat violent knock. May as well be welded to the air cylinder. Can’t get anymore rigid.

Check out this thread I did on heat expansion and barrel bands using my FX Crown?

Hi Joe,

you mentioned that you filled up the small gap that is created by installing the DL power plenum . What size rubber ring will do the job ?

have a good day

Yalel

I really have no idea the size of the o-ring. It is just a thin one I found in my stash. I purchased a lot of FX Wildcat, Streamline, Crown, and Dreamline o-ring replacement kits from eBay. It’s one of those.
