FX Wildcat recoil anyone? Is it affecting your accuracy at long range?

Hi guys, I own the bottle versions of the Wildcat, it is in .22 and I have it with a 600mm barrel and a 480 bottle, right in between the compact and the sniper, I find it really comfortable.
I’ve owned the gun for about a year now and ever since I got it I noticed quite a bit of recoil, the gun stock is very light and I believe that is the reason why its got the shakes when it shoots.
I’ve been swaging my own slugs for a while now from a Corbin press, I found that the stx superior barrel likes the .218’s better than the .217’s but even though I’ve found the right slug, I’m still having trouble making decent groups at longer distances and I believe it’s the recoil that it affecting my groupings.
I have tried a couple of different things this last week, I shot groups with the gun held really loose, once the shoot went off, I let the gun jump wherever it wanted, then, I tried a couple of groups with the gun held really tight trying to follow through and stay on target as long as possible after the shot and the groups got tighter but not great.
I have tuned the gun to be consistent, I tried different velocities from 980 down to 940, couldn’t Get groups down below 2-2 1/2 inches.
Anyone experiencing this? Any tips on holding the gun? Could it be the liner (stx superior)? Should I try different velocities? I checked that everything is tightly screwed.
BTW I have an Impact MK2 that shoots amazing, no recoil, incredible groups at longer distances.
Thanks guys,

Lucas

My .30 predictably has the most recoil of my 3 guns (.22, .25, .30) but my hold is the same for all 3. The less firm contact I have with the stocks the better they shoot. I also shoot after exhaling & in between heartbeats. Your FX guns should be very accurate as mine are & I believe it's more a matter of technique & practicing proper techniques than a problem with the gun. There are PLENTY of videos & discussions on this to be found. Read/watch what the experts do & practice, practice, practice. It SHOULD improve.

Remember that the stock is shorter than an Impact, so it fits you differently. In most cases, a looser hold is the correct hold, but you gotta make sure that your gun fits you.
It also could be that the tune isn't quite up to speed and needs some tweaking. At the higher velocities, there is more recoil. Most cases the velocity is less than what you indicated in the OP. You might try around 910-920. Even with slugs,
There are some out there that use even higher velocities, it all depends on the harmonic of the rifle.

Is the accuracy better if you shoot pellets?

Haven‘t tried pellets but I am starting to think is the liner carbon sleeve that might not be tight in the barrel, there might be the slightest vibration that is not helping in accuracy, I am also going to try a different moderator.
I’ll keep you guys posted!

Not all FX barrels are able to shoot slugs.

It is very likely that your problem is that you are not shooting pellets.

Wildcat has virtually no recoil. Lol. Problem is completely in tune and or projectile selection. Slugs are super finicky
Thanks, I have two other pcp’s an Impact MK2 that shoots incredibly well and an Argentinian gun called LT Guns ProHunter which also shoots amazingly well but the Wildcat has proven to be a challenge to tame, I’ll keep trying different tunes to try to get to shoot well. I shot videos not long ago of the recoil the gun has, the recoil is just as that of a .22lr or even a 17HMR. The bipod jumps when it shoots!

Before changing tune and projectiles, try "sand bagging" the gun to dampen the recoil and take shooter technique out of the equation.

Temporarily adding weight to the gun might help diagnose the problem by proving tune and slugs are ok/good.

It, like some finicky springers, might just be a matter of learning how your particular gun wants to be held.

Cheers!
