Having owned and tested virtually every air pistol worth having, and found the Crosman 1720 as accurate as any air pistol at any price, I don't deceive myself that the only serious air pistol I haven't owned will be as accurate as a 1720T.
But since my new Ataman AP16 (non-compact) is scheduled for delivery tomorrow, I'll know soon enough. And assuming my AP16 shoots well, we'll soon (finally) know how well one shoots at 50 yards.
Below are my testing notes on the 1720T that I used to own.
2/21/2016- Three consecutive 5 shot groups at 50 yards averaged .66” with 8.4 grain JSB’s.
2/21/2016- Three consecutive 5 shot groups at 50 yards averaged .70” with 10.3 grain JSB’s
4/6/2016- Six consecutive 5 shot groups at 35 yards averaged .44” with 10.3 grain JSB’s.
7/21/2016- Six consecutive 5 shot groups at 50 yards averaged .74” c-t-c with 8.4 grain JSB’s.
2/27/2017- Five consecutive 5 shot groups at 50 yards averaged .71” c-t-c with 8.4 grain JSB’s
2/1/2018- Built a Mannlicher style fore-end and reduced the power to 12 FP for better PFT work.
4/9/2018- Three consecutive 5 shot groups at 50 yards averaged .76” c-t-c with 12 FP 8.4 JSB’s.
4/15/2018- Four consecutive 5 shot groups at 40 yards from Hunter FT position averaged .73”.
