take the stock of and ship in two piece
it will be a shorter package and the stock should be safe because the action has lost its leverage o break the stock

The thing weighs a ton as it is, i'd have to rent a u-haul to ship it , lol.

guessing 7 hours drive from OH to David Slade , then return , and again in 3 or 4 weeks to pick up ?

Marflow, stock off would be the plan. Beerthief, i have drove farther for less. I could probably fly for less these days though.

look you can build your own boxes going to an appliance store and get some cardboard it will be heavy break out the wood glue and build a box for the stock and one for the action glue the two boxes together and make just one end open
make liners for them to sit in or just wrap them up real well but DO NOT tape the bubble wrap
all that time on the road at this time of year doesn't make much sense

No worries there marflow, i doubt i have a vehicle that could make the trip. I used to do a lot of buying, selling and trading on the old yellow forum and i was always a nervous wreck till things got delivered. Now that there are no more toys that shoot shows in Findlay ohio, that was my no shipping outlet as i'm not far from findlay, I'm back to shipping and puckering up.
