Winter Projects? Let’s see em!

I bought 2 last summer on a “back to school” sale 😂
I really like them, currently on a winter sale.

I just found this on AliExpress: $99.00 | Discovery HT 6X24AOE Super Ultra-Short Compact Scope Red Green Illuminated Sight Design For Air Guns and Light Weight Firearms

I almost pulled the trigger until I saw it was barrel OA. Nope!

Winter time is knifemaking time.

I like the idea of the rivets holding all in place during forming, etc before using the laces. How do you attach your welt? It doesnt appear in the pics that the laces are going through a welt. As always, inspirational work! My shop isnt heated and so I've not been out there much, but do need to fire up the forge and get to work. Last batch I made was in October...

No words for welt in Norwegian Rob, but do you mean the protection for the seam? The attached picture explains it.

Nice work fellas. I mess with knives and leather occasionally to. Mostly just rehandled knives for fun. I was just digging through my stag stash a few days ago. Makes me want to mess with some knives next. Too many dang hobbies.
I do collect knives big time, well before the Airgun bug got me. Still love them.

Few pieces from my stash.Kinda use to collect it to hahah. Stag is my favorite material. it’s getting tough to find nice old sambar.

That did explain it. I just couldnt see in the first pic. It looks like you are using a bit lighter weight leather than I have been. My next leather purchase, I'm going down in weight a bit so my sheaths arent so 'bulky' Very nice work. I'm still learning on the leatherwork and my next endeavor will be attempting some designs such as what you have in the leather.

I got my leather from rjfleather. They have a website showing some of their leather but you have to call. Great guys with quality leather. Leather sure went up in price last few years. Pre covid I use to got a very high quality double shoulder for under $100 shipped.
Leatherwork is a lot of fun. I’ve only done about a dozen sheaths but enjoyed it. Leather sure isn’t forgiving, one slip or drop of dye and your project is ruined.

It’s been a year or so but here’s last 3 I did. Two are belt buckle sheaths. One is just a clip front pocket style.Made two belt buckle sheaths and realized I don’t even have a belt to put them on haha. Little dagger I rehandled in stag with copper guard. Miss messing with knives and leather.

Take care
Rob

Excellent work, sir.... I like the idea with the belt a lot. I promised myself when I was doing sheaths that I didnt need another hobby and was only going to do simple foldover sheaths, but I'm finding myself more drawn to different style and the more I see, the more possibilities I want to try out!

Yes, many options. I use D-ring for hang ups, and make the strops separately. Different colors to match the sheaths of course.

So Id need a Discovery air tube, valve etc..to be able to use the marauder trigger group. Id be building from the ground up for a pistol, not rifle. I already have a 1720T and a custom 2240 that are amazing shooters but I just like the marauder trigger better. Its not worth an entire build at this time but could be a fun slow project.

Undetermined if Discovery tubes are still available. There may be remnants of Maximus tubes though. What length are you looking at since it’s a pistol that you’re wanting? Mountain Air Custom Airguns cuts them to length, the Maximus tubes, but a bit pricey for what they are. If you’re handy, you could order 22xx smooth tubes from Alliance Hobby and drill them yourself for the valve. Also, when you’re saying Marauder TG are you pertaining to the pistol or rifle variant? I’m pretty sure it’s the former, so there’s no Gen 1 or Gen 2 to speak of.

I need to move from Iowa to Florida . This winter project was not what I intended. First my Buck jones was my winter project. Took it apart put it together found a shot tube and was done in a week. So I found a 1858 Western Auto Daisy 1000 on eBay they say is broken. So I bid and win. Get the thing in the mail. It’s perfect. Minor scratches on the cocking lever and some oil stains on the beautiful varnish stock and grip. Took it apart and the abutment washes was stuck to the compression seal blocking the shot tube. Put it together with some oil and wiped it out. Dumped the magizine into the target. Done in half and hour.
Spring better get here soon or I’ll need another gunsafe.

I got a stupid idea last night. And those are the worst because they nag and nag.
So the 499b is the world’s most accurate BB gun. How about a target stock with an adjustable cheek piece, butt hook and plan rest? Maybe laminated wood.
I can’t make a stock I have no skill or tools. But I could hack up an existing stock to fit the 499 frame. Maybe a rugged 10/99 stock. They are inexpensive.
