Working On a Take Down Shooting Bench

Hey Folks, So I wish I could say the plans for this bench were my own but my neighbor has one and shared them with me

He has one of these and I have shot off it. It is a surprisingly sturdy base to shoot from and can easily be knocked down and put in the trunk of a car. It can be assembled in only a few minutes and the shooting deck can be reversed for both right and left handed shooter
assembled it weighs about 40 pounds depending on the type of plywood used. I like the fact that there are no screws everything just locks into each other.
I have the plywood and am drawing up the cuts now. I should have the pieces cut out tomorrow or at least by the weekend. I will post build pics if anyone is interested.

I built one similar to your design, but the problem is, IMHO, the 3/4" plywood top has considerable flex when you put any arm pressure on it. Set up your rifle with bipod, and or bags, then rest your arms on the top as you look through the scope and notice the point of aim shift. I replaced the 3/4" top with a piece of a 1 1/2" solid core door blank and it has much less flex. Another thought would be to laminate two 3/4" plywood tops together. Your local millwork supplier probably has some old door blanks that they would give you for free :)-)
