I think Nielsen went a little harder alloy since so many people were starting to buy up all these fpe monster pcps. I still really like using Nielsen for critters that need a little extra penetration like racoons or skunks. They still expand but you need to push them really fast, and you need to have enough target material. Squirrels are too tiny for the heavier slugs to expand well. I use the 17.5g at about 980fps and they pop ground squirrels very well.

Nielsens slug recipe is aimed at volume paper shooting in my opinion. They are the slug that extends your cleaning intervals over any slug I’ve tried to date. I shot them before he changed his recipe, I think because of his process of making them, and the old recipe was definitely different.
