WRABF…..ERABSF…..USARB 25 meterTarget post 11/30/15

Nice shootin' Ken. That new front rest looks like it's working smoothly ;-)

The ol' Colibri and the Cricket out shot the Thomas today at 50 yds. Crazy winds and the 35 FPE .22 seems to buck it better than the 20 FPE .177?

10 Shot groups at 50yds Cricket first on left, the colibri , then Thomas.

Just slapped some 2 inch shoot-n-c tagets on an old target that already been shot to hell and back.

Shot a .25 FX Impact today. Not sure if it's enough to tempt me to go that route?

"Coldking"Good Shooting Salty -
i was at a silhouette match today - then we Broke out the rifles for off hand shooting -
a shooter brought a air force edge - not bad for silhouette matches !
Light weight -not much power though -
so I do wonder about the 45 yard shots in slightly windy conditions
CK
Thanks CK, I believe the edge is 12fpe, heard they are great little guns!

I think I'd like to buy an edge as a loaner ? Didn't realize the low energy but man it's an air miser! Shot some forty shots and went to top it off- but it didn't need a puff!
good Shooting Jimmy - stretching the ole Thomas out to 50 yards huh- that's a lot of ground to cover with a tiny pill though --
what weight pellets were you shooting ?
and Ken - what do you know bout mauiders ? A shooting buddy left me one to look at- it blows all the air out of the breech -into the barrel?
blown regulator?

no Regulators in Mrod, sounds like the valve malfunction.

Thanks Ken - just watched a YouTube video - yup no regulator but a valve body with 2 Orings - probably one or both of them ?
but disassembly looks like a cake walk - so in the am - I'll tear into it - see what gives -
bit when I attempt to gas it, even pulling the bolt back- air just floods out of the end of the barrel -
reminds me of some rifles that if you let em get completely out of air - you've got to hit em with super high pressure to get the valve to reseat -bit of no regulator

My little buddy Mark_Walt brought his .25 FX Impact over to CampFussell today and we had a shoot em up good time. He brought two 12 packs of of old soft drinks and we shot the hell out of them. From 30 yds yo 100 yds. I forgot how much fun it was to watch a soda can explode for the .25 cal hits!

I can't get over how small the Impact is? I believe it is smaller than his Wildcat? I love my Kalibrguns and he loves his FX! He plans to get a .177 barrel for his Impact and shoot FT with it? He's got the Athlon Argos 6-24X50 and I really like that scope! Way better than my Hawke?

Shoot em and keep filming Frank and Ken! You guys rock!

Thanks Jimmy ! I hear you on the reactive targets -
we initially weren't going to shoot an air rifle silhouette match - everybody seemed like they wanted to be someplace else ?
but Tim - our match director dragged out some 16 pound steel Rams pigs chickens etc -
to see who could take him up on a bet, and knock any of them down!
So one by one we started uploading gear - and trying to topple these giant hunks of steel!
I was surprised that at 30 meters the FX 400 was knocking em down! Badass!!
one guy brought out a vintage magnum side cocker in .22 but it would rock it a bit but........
and jerry with the Airforce edge - foretaboutit😬
'But that's what started drawing people back to the firing line!
Its a hell of a lot of fun to shoot anything reactive
cheers

Disassembled the Crosman Marauder - turns out it was a broken valve stem ( the pin with the broken plastic just to the left of the spring )- damn thing is made of plastic!
So ordered the chezzy plastic one from archer Airgun's and a couple of port Orings -
should work until the next time?
man I can't believe the lack of quality ?

i don't think they are that cheap to purchase?
CK

Hahahaha! - guess I'm slumming it?😆
It belongs to Jerry - he's a shooting buddy at my gun club -
told him I'd give it s go - cause the only thing I can't fix is a broken heart ❤️ 😫
But damn - that valve pin takes a beating from the hammer weight- you'd think they would use something better than cheap ass plastic?
Brother can you spare a dime CK😬

Even the metal valve stems have problems, not so much the breaking of the metal pin but the separating of the delrin seat

Below is a quote from Charlie Frear on the Cricket valve stem.

"The metallic part of the stem does not break, it is the delrin seat that comes loose from it's seated position on the stem that causes the failure. At this point whether the stem is made of aluminum or titanium would make no difference."

But in my opinion........as for Crosman ......they should make the head of that stem out of metal one would think?

I agree - due to the constant force applied to the head ( seat) you'd think the whole pin would be steel ?
but I did notice there are lots of upgrades available for this rifle - Huma regulator - depinging device - better drop in trigger assembly -
lots of stuff - but then-- why not just buy a better gun?
I guess there are those that lovevto tinker with these -
hobby in itself ?
Ive been chatting with Alfred of Beaumont - he's working on a .30 caliber pellet rifle - he's telling me 100 yard groups of half inch are the norm?
will be built on the Phoenix platform ?
Lots of activity in European countries with the 100 meter shoots- but he also says the rifle will be regulated -so a tether isn't needed
that would be good for America - because it's not allowed to tether and shoot ?
