Events XFT at Phoenix Rod and Gun Club, November Night Match-2022

PRGC will be hosting an Xtreme Field Target night match on Saturday, November 19th.

We're starting to get into the reason the PHX metro area's population swells a bit this time of year (from all the snowbirds).....BEAUTIFUL weather. My dad lives down there and we've got this running joke whenever I go see him...usually starts something like me saying I can't believe people CHOOSE to live in this place (of course this is when it's 110+ degrees). He always responds with something along the lines of how the winter month weather makes up for the heat during the summer. Pulling up the weather forecast...says a high of 77 and low of 54 for 11/19. That should put it around 60-65 during the night match. Short sleeves if you like, light jacket if you prefer. Doesn't get much better than that.

PRGC reps are getting calendar updated but check it out here.

Plan on a sight-in/sign-up around 5pm, with shooters meeting at 530pm and the match starting shortly thereafter.

We suggest a simple/cheap head lamp.

Also, this will be the first match where the Marksman Division will be an option. Ben's been talking about this for a couple years and he's finally got the details hammered out well enough for a starting point/launch. Representative of Ben's penchant for coming up with outside of the box ideas, the Marksman Class/Division is an exciting development and the premise behind it is something NOT SEEN OR PRESENT AT ANY LEVEL OF FIELD TARGET, anywhere in the world. Read more about that here: https://www.airgunnation.com/threads/xtreme-field-target-marksman-division.1277279/

Just wanted to add that, starting in January, we'll go back to the normal daytime matches on the 4th Saturday of each month. These night matches in November and December are to try to get a little distance between the match day and Thanksgiving and Christmas. And they Nov/Dec matches have to be night matches to avoid scheduling conflicts with the other matches at PRGC.

We realize it's less than ideal, but so is a match two days after Thanksgiving when many people are still traveling or still have family visiting.

So, Ben worked it out this way to hopefully give more shooters a chance to get an XFT match under their belts in November and he told me realizes that, unfortunately, it may not be best for everyone.

Recently received the email reminder from the Airgunners of Arizona field target club, that they'll be having a regular (sub 20fpe/10-55 yards) match on the same day as this XFT night match. Which got the gears turning....I could shoot regular field target at Ben Avery in the morning, and Xtreme Field Target at Phoenix Rod and Gun club that evening, all on the same day. In short, it could be a two-fer, two matches for the same gas money as one match (I live a few hrs away).

So, anybody that has to travel for field target here in the Southwest, or even anybody that lives in the greater Phoenix Metro area...might be an option for you as well.

Colben and I are seriously considering just that for next Saturday.

Here's a link to the Airgunners of AZ ft club's website, if you're not familiar already. (contact info, directions, etc)

And it looks like Ben has been spending some time on the XFT website, making changes and updates. He mentioned to me a while back that he's going to start selling the Heliboards for Daystate, there's a link on the website that doesn't seem to be working so maybe contact Ben through his cell (listed on the website) if youre interested. There's also Ben's barrel stiffening system, and a video review from DeadEye. Generally some information that anybody intersted in field target should find interesting. Check it all out here: https://azxft.com/

Yes I am planning on the two-fer too, hopefully having the meets the same day will be a participation benefit to both clubs. Weather is still looking great for Saturday, light winds and temps starting in the high 60’s and then dipping into the high 50’s towards the end of the XFT match, and basically the reverse for Airgunners match. But for us thin skinned heat acclimated desert lizards, the high 50’s is starting to feel a little wintery, may need to break out the long johns!
