Events Xtreme Field Target at PHX Rod and Gun Club on 10/22/2022

Daytime match at PRGC on 10/22/22

Details and another link to get signed up via Practiscore can be found here: https://phoenixrodandgun.org/node/13312

Start time will most likely be around 11:15-11:30 as the previous event at the range needs to clear out before this one can get started.

Airguns (pellets or slugs) and sub sonic rimfire are all allowed at this daytime match.

Ben and PRGC putting on these matches is really a treat for anybody within driving distance of Phoenix. These types of long range/high power field target airgun matches just aren't happening in many parts of the country yet. And these PHX matches are the only ones ANYWHERE allowing slugs and subsonic rimfire to shoot field target. So take advantage of this unique opportunity and come try your hand. We can guarantee you'll be challenged and have a blast and make some new airgun friends.

Type "XFT" or "PRGC" in the search window in the upper right of this AGN page to find bunches of info about past matches, (match reports, course photos, discussion on the challenges of shooting pellets out to 100 yards, etc.)

Contact Match Director Ben Spencer @ 480-694-6973 with any questions.

Barbara and I have it on the calendar!!!!!

Glad to hear you guys are going to attend.

Sadly I won't be able to.
After the last six months my wife is pretty sick of my airgun hobby. In that time frame I've had 6 regular ft matches (all of which were long camping weekends), 2 of Ben's night matches, the big Wasatch airgun event, EFT at EBR, and now the review of the Ghost.....

I'm going with discretion is the better part of valor and will sadly have to pass on Ben's match this month. I'm sure all that attend (those that aren't in the dog house with their wife) will have a wonderful time. Wish I could be there too (and stay married:D).

I'm going to try and shoot slugs at the monthly XFT matches at PR&GC starting November (can't make Oct on business trip - and for the reasons Cole mentioned above ). I'll look at the 11 non forced position lanes as a baseline. Probably should have Cole shoot the gun since he's better at XFT but I'm sure he has his own interests. I'll be shooting a .25 FX Impact X (700mm Slug A) with Athlon Midas BTR 4-27x scope and NSA 38.9 slugs at 965 fps. Could shift to 43.5 NSA at 920 fps if they prove more accurate. We'll need to keep good log of wind speed and direction during the match to see if the slugs higher BC (0.105) benefits compared to pellets. Should be interesting...

PS., I could shoot the slugs faster, but that would require a total re-tune of the gun from the current reg. pressure of 135 bar to very high, in the 175 to180 bar range. That would get me to the mid 1030 to 1050 fps range, but I'd need a tungsten hammer and new reg. that works with high pressure (my Impact X is an older version). So maybe if I do get good results as is I'll tweak the gun, but not till Springtime and only if the gun does well as is...

PPS., I've got a .25 BRK Ghost coming, and am planning on "slugging" that one. Not sure if it has the power to get heavier slugs up to speed, in 82 fpe range... but we'll see with a little help from Derrick @zx10wall ! ;)

Looks like it will be Lupo Nero (Delta Wolf)...(black wolf in Italian) After sighting it in at 50 yards Tuesday night it did pretty good, but if it doesn't do well at sight it tomorrow out comes Skeletor my tried and true FX 25 cal Crown which has done very nicely at EFT...

Either way the Black and Orange of Team Centercut will be there...😎

Got those 1/4” Bricker reducers on them

🤪. Awww, man. At least give him the easy 3/8” reducers at 46 yards. He’s not ready to squeeze a .30 pellet through a 1/4” hole yet.

Now do I go with the FX Crown which has proven itself time and time again at EFT 🤔 Or the new Delta Wolf the wife got me with her winnings at EBR 🤔 Heading out tonight to sight in the Delta Wolf so we shall see.....

Your Crown HAS had quite the stellar track record shooting the high power/long range field target game.

As a data point, how often do you need to rezero? And does it have the liner system or is it an early enough version that it has a solid barrel? (At least I think I remember the earliest Crowns were pre-liner system, but I could sure be remembering that incorrectly).

It’s an MKII and has the super lite barrel system…As for rezero, I do check it at each EFT and very seldom do I need to do anything with the scope. My “mini crown” 380mm barrel 22 I hunt with is the same… If I do it’s a click or two, where as my impact is adjusted ever time and I mean every time.

Thanks. Very interesting. So maybe all the comments about the shifting poi with the liner system is more Impact specific.

For my personality, getting a gun out in preparation for a match and having it shoot where it should is a confidence boost. And I think having it not shoot where it should would be the opposite, again, for me.
