YH Going Back - What to buy.

I just dug into my YH (clone I think) compressor ordered from amazon and arriving on wednesday of this week. When I opened the first outside box I noticed the main box was in pretty bad shape and had been retaped with another color tape... definately had been opened before. I pulled the compressor out anyway and it had a lot of gunk on it and dust etc, then I noticed it had oil on it. I lifted it out and it was full of oil already, and the one thing I have read is that they come without oil. So, back it goes. I paid full price for a new one and not accepting a repacked one or something someone else found was not working, plus I have no idea what kind of oil that is in there already and what it did to the internals.

So, in doing that I rethought the whole YH concept. If you guys were to buy another compressor in the 1K dollar or so range, what would it be? I really like the looks and the reviews of the Air Venturi, but is there anything i am missing that I have not seen?

TitanFlyer I have the Air Venturi compressor and can only speak of that one. I have had it well over a year and it has worked flawlessly. I have approximately 12 hours on it. It fills my air venturi 98cf tank from 3000 to 4500 in about 22 minutes. It is "fairly quiet" and is small enough to tuck away in a corner when done. It is a little heavy at 80 lbs but is to be expected. So far I have no complaints with my choice. But now, there are a few more in that price range to look at. Good luck and if you have any specific questions on this unit let me know.

Such new technology and almost all made in China so these "inexpensive" compressors are a crapshoot. But so far Im happy. Also pyramid air sells all the replacement parts online and I believe they repair them as a last resort. The daystate would be awesome and im sure it is worth the money but is still a BIG pill to swallow. Good luck

Agree with CH. .I ALSO HAVE A A.V THE SAME AGE AND MY FRIEND IMOLD AND AS C.H.ALL ARE ABOUT THE SAME AGE AND WORK GREAT WOULDNT TRADE IT .AND REALLY LIKE IT .YOU MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE SENDING THAT JUNK BACK ..Anytime a compresser with oil is tipped on its side or upside down any of that besides right side up. Will cause oil to enter places it shoudnt and what happens is called slugging the compresser .and its opens it up to all kinds of issues ..thats one reason they supposed to ship empty of oil.things that C.H mentioned is weight which to me is acceptable. To have a nice compresser...so either get a set of 4 casters and hardware so you can roll or a empty say table saw stand empty tv stand works nice ..either use box as cover or get a grill cover or small tarp if kept in agarage or area like.. that mice are attracted to the water..the one downfall is a short charging hose. So i used the coupling it came with and put a 8 foot hose EXTENSION FROM BEST FITTINGS UK ALSO GOT THE EXTNDED FOSTER FITTING FROM THERE ALSO .NOW I CAN GO FROM END TO END OF MY WORK BENCH WITH MY. HOSE YOULL SEE ITS AWKWARD AND HARD TO USE WITH THE SHORT HOSE .DONNIES FLA HAS THE EXTENDED FOSTER FITTING GREAT FOR IMPACT FOR $20. PUT the styrofoam over screen after each use. BACK OVER PANNEL TO KEEP FROM SCRATCHING. KEEP BOX IN CASE OF RETURN. HYNZIE CONTACT ME IF YOU NEED ANY INFO A VIBRATION HOUR METER IS A GREAT ADD ON AND A WATER FILTER IS TOO. .WHEN I FIRST GOT I RAN IT FOR 10 MINUTES AND THEN CHANGED THE OIL I WANTED TO KNOW IMMEDIATELY IF I WAS GONMA GET METAL SHAVINGS DOMT NEED TO FIND AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRES.
