Yong Heng has arrived

Well? Have you used it yet?

Today I ran the YH compressor for its break-in period. I did not do any filing today just mainly testing functionality. I used Royal Purple and Lucas Stabilizer for the initial break-in. Also distilled water with a cooling solution added as well. After shut down I opened the small filter and it was bone dry! Oh yeah temperature was climbing rapidly even with the 2 extra additions I ended at 60c. Next round is trying the ice in the bucket

Putting high-end "boutique" oils and additives in the world's cheapest HPA compressor is the true embodiment of putting lipstick on a pig

Those oils and additives are mostly marketing gimmicks, but some can argue a benefit when being used in precision, tight tolerance machines. The yong hengs are on the exact opposite end of that spectrum.

You could use any 20 or 30 weight detergent-free oil in those. The cheaper the better.

More like putting a helmet on while riding a motorcycle. "These cheap Compressors seems to be out performing those more expensive Compressors that can only fill a PCP!"

I agree. I purchased a YH after doing a good amount of research. From what I gathered is that a well taken care of YH will out last most nearing even $3000. I was about to drop a good amount on a compressor but the life of them scared the hell out of me. YH has also put forth a good effort to improve the durability as well.

1 year ago I researched and changed my front and rear differentials on my jeep rubicon.

While synthetic gear lube had all of the hype and lots of advertising, it is proven not to be a good choice for difffs

Here's why.

The killer of metal on metal gears is friction and heat.

The synthetic oils were equal to conventional lube in their lubricating departments.

The synthetic claimed that they would not break down in higher heat applications (This is true ) .

Problem with the synthetic gear lube was the heat transfer. it wont pull the heat from the gears and disperse it.

Racing and high end gear builders will tell you to use conventional lube in your axles/differentials.

Most will not warranty their product if synthetic is used.

Now in my opinion the lower unit of the YH needs the lube for lubrication and heat transfer. I ordered one and it arrives today (woohoo).

My Jeep costs 1,800 to regear, and I trust the manufacture and installers advice

I had a Yong Heng and only used AW46 hydro oil as stated by the mfg. The first oil change was very dirty but after that it ran cleaner longer. I have since sold it to a friend and bought myself a Hatsan Lightning . I've been using RP just because and have had no issues. I figured $60 or $70 that I spent on the gallon of RP is worth it to me and will last me a long time.

I did have a piston break in my Yong Heng but it had nothing to do with the oil. My friend us still using it and very happy with it after almost a year now.

Also have two other friends with YH and Tuxing compressor running AW46 with no issues. Additives are not needed imo.
