Hi scoutscope. The manual says to place the compressor on a level surface. Of course level surfaces are hard to come by, so guys typically have to put cardboard or whatever under the feet to get it level, including myself. Your point about a competent engineer is exactly what raised a flag in my head that really started this thread. I got the feeling that the window placement could have easily been misaligned because of the sloping crankshaft. Something that could have, from an engineering standpoint, easily fallen through the crack. Based on the unanimous feedback here, I owe everyone a big apology for starting a thread that, by anyone's standards, could only be seen as an alarmist thread. That was definitely not my intention.I think that if a competent person designed your compressor that it should be placed on a level surface for running, and for checking oil. Does the manual suggest you place the unit 1.8* out of level to run it?
