Yong Heng Pump

My Yong Heng pump seems to working fine, the only issue is that even though I have the pump submerged in a bucket of ice water, the pump, temp goes from 25C to 50C in one minutes time or less even with no load, What am I overlooking? I have already purchased a higher flow pump, but have not bought the necessary adapter fittings. Am I going in the right direction trying to increase cooling water flow or could it be something else?

You might have something going on, on mine once i open the tank its working against 3500psi or so and can run against that for about 10-12 minutes before hitting 50c.

Mine jumps to 30 within a minute or two from the 15-18c it starts at. Have you been bleeding the high and low side every few minutes of running?

Oil level is at the proper level?

You fully open the tank valve when you fill?

Back in summer, when the ambient temperature was around 35c, mine would rise to 55c fairly quickly and stabilize. Now, coming into winter, that the temperature is more like 15c, it climbs just as fast and settles at around 48c. I only use the supplied pump and water from the tap. I do however use a fairly large bucket with about 5 gallons of water. Your figures sound similar to mine. If it rises past 60 and keeps rising I would investigate what was causing it. I once run it with the regulating dial on the pump closed by accident and I didn't notice it getting any hotter than when it was fully open. With the vent closed it slows the flow by about a third. I was thinking of getting a higher flow pump as a spare after reading a few stories about the supplied one being a bit dodgy. The problem with most of the higher flow units is that they use larger fittings and hoses. you can make them fit but the flow will be choked by the narrower pump fittings. For now, the stock one is doing OK so I will stick with it until it fails.
