Yong Heng questions (start to a FAQ?)

I'm inching closer to getting one of these and while there is a a lot of information online about them, it's often buried in threads that are many, many pages long. If you have FIRST hand experience with a Yong Heng compressor, could you answer these questions? Ultimately, I think it would be great to start a basic FAQ about these compressors!

1) Where did you order yours from and how long did it take to arrive?

2) What voltage and pressure adjuster type (variable, set, etc) did you get?

3) If you got a 220v, how long was the cord and what connector was on the end?

4) What are you doing for moisture control?

5) What size tanks are you filling and how long do they take to fill?

6) Have you had any any problems? If so, what?

7) How many hours (or fills) do you have on it so far?

8) Other thoughts/comments?

I have read all I can on these, your # 6 is what interests me. The rest are pretty well documented.
There are better compressors for 5 to 50 times the price out there.
Here's my country boy logic.....
I have a free source of air right now for my SCUBA which won't top off my Daystate but will get me
to 210 -200 BAR which is right at her sweet spot. That's 50-60 shots per fill, Pretty good!
So why buy a SCBA 60 minute tank for $500.00 plus accessories to gain 10 more usable
and an additional 10 unusable shots? NOPE.
What I will do? Is buy a used SCBA 2007 or newer tank $125- 150 bucks and a little compressor
like this. I don't have to have that tank tested unless I want. I don't need to fill to 4500 PSI either.
That's what I'm going to do.
I know I'm gonna get my ass chewed! LOL

I got a Yong Heng compressor about 3 months ago and, so far, I am happy with it. Ordered 220 volt for auto shutoff but don't do that. Shut off at only 3900 psi. Had to bypass but gauge still works. They sent Euro 220 plug, had to do some rewiring but no big deal. Delivery from China in 10 days to my door. I would say it might be better to order 110 volt unit and just watch fill pressure yourself. I fill a little 92 ci. bottle from 2750 to 4500 in just over 4 minutes. I would recommend trying to find a U.S. shipper to avoid the international communication lag if there is a problem. 
Hey, it's only $340 to my door! It does what it's supposed to and I get to make my own air when I need it. If you're not expecting $1500 features, I think its a good choice if you just want to shoot.

One thing you shouldn’t forget about when buying these inexpensive compressors is remember to get a good quality cartridge filter air drier. Moister will rot out your guns and tanks quicker than you think and unless you know how to do an internal inspection you are looking for trouble. I purchased the filter from Air Tanks for sale. I think I paid $399. Yes I know that’s more than your compressor but it’s really needed.

I also purchased the alpha filter from Air tanks for sale after I made a couple of attempts to fill my CF tank with out it and saw just how much water was inside the cheap white "filter" that comes with the pump. I haven't tried using the alpha filter yet but it should make a huge difference. A word to the wise, don't forget to use ice packs in your water container to keep the unit cool during operation.

Cut included cotton tampon in 1.5 inch sections. Insert one 1.5” section. Fill with Zeolite molecular sieve 13x. Put another 1.5” section on top and screw in top. Make sure you get some compression. Now you have your own alpha filter for about $100. Plus many refills for tampon ends and Zeolite beads.

All compressors require a moisture removing filter, with out it the high pressure tanks and cylinders will corrode from the inside out you don’t want to be near one taking a load of shrapnel when it blows. You can make a less costly filter like what centercut describes but you have to keep it under observation as the zeolite will create a acid residue if it comes in contact with certain metals. The alpha filter uses a sealed plastic cartridge to keep the moister absorbing materials from coming in contact with the sides of the pressure vessel. I looked for a cheaper way to safely filter and dry the air and fount that the alpha type filter is the best for the money when I did scuba diving I had a pump for filling the tanks and the moister filter cost around $700 I guess there is not enough of a demand for people to make a cheaper alternative that really works.

its only $28 but it will only do it’s job if Air is passed through under high pressure finding a sleeve for it that in properly manufactured to hold 4500psi is the hard part. I’m afraid to trust the cheap ones from China that aren’t certified. I want to stress you need to regularly chec the cartridge to make sure it’s still good. There is a color changing strip that turns color when it’s full in the Carette compressor I fing it works for me for 10 hours of compressor run time. If I lived in the desert it would last longer.

I bought mine from amazon.it the 110 model.i use it to fill rifles directly,it doesn't take very long to top off Mrods or sumaltra carbine,tops off a disco under 25 seconds.i shoot way more now so only problem I have had is running out of pellets and had to order more.takes longer to fill bucket with water than to top off rifles.you MUST install air breather or you run the chance of damaging the unit.it took six days from hong kong after ordering it.
I feel that these unit are at their best when topping off rifles directly as opposed to filling big air tanks...overall I happy I do not have to pump any more...

Yes, I've read that before about Zeolite causing some kind of acid reaction with moisture present, but never saw any references other than "I heard somewhere that...". So, being the Engineer that I am, I did some research on this issue. I wasn't able to find any studies or incidents of Zeolite 13X molecular sieve forming metal damaging acids when exposed to water vapor.
Additionally, the aluminum in this component is anodized, which protects the aluminum from further corrosion. See description: "Anodizing is an electrochemical process that converts the metal surface into a decorative, durable, corrosion-resistant, anodic oxide finish. Aluminum is ideally suited to anodizing, although other nonferrous metals, such as magnesium and titanium, also can be anodized."
So bottom line IMHO, as long as you check the Zeolite every ten to fifteen hours of use, you should be fine with the structural integrity of the cylinder. The beads will change from a light color to darker as it absorbs water.
I also question where the Diablo or Alpha filter pressure containers are made? I've looked online and do not see any "Made is USA" signs or statements. So, I wonder where they actually are made? China? Korea? Same place as the bargain e-Bay ones??? Yes, the Alpha filter does have a drain valve at the bottom, but that would be simple to add if you feel that is necessary...

Eaglebeak, I don’t think it would hurt, but check out the chart in the link below that compares filter media. You’ll probably decide on the Zeolite 13x molecular sieve. 
There are other sections in the post linked to that are way over exaggerated in order to sell his filters, but the chart is good.
