Yong heng US 110v vs 220v plug

Guys,

Just wondering if the guys that ordered the 220v compressor received a 220v plug or if it was just a 110v plug. The retailer is telling me that the 110v and 220v plug is the same and its not a problem. That does not sound right to me. When asked if it was the same motor they did not reply either. In my experience, I have seen other products that operate on 110v and 220v but they usually have a switch on them.

So guys please let me know what you received for the 220v version. A 220 plug or a 110 plug.

Thx

I don’t have that compressor but for sure you don’t convert a 220 motor to 110 by putting a new plug on it. If you have a 220 dryer you can probably plug in there when not in use. But have the 220 plug checked by a qualified person as you need to know what the motor specs and how many phase it is. 220 motors are usually more efficient than a 110.

I bought a 220V one because the price was way better at the time. Use a step-up transformer, which plugs into your standard 110V outlet and provides 220V for the YH. Heres the one I bought from Amazon for $89.99 - though I've seen that the price has gone up now. Maybe it will go down again or you can find a price match for them.

Yes I know that is an option. I am not concerned about the availability of a 110 and a 200. I have both at my residence. I was just curious about the put that came with the 220v unit. If in fact it is a 220 plug or a 110v.

I ordered a 110v YongHeng a few months back. They sent me a used 220v with an EU style plug. Some electrical motors do have a center tap that allow you to move a wire internally. I opened the used one to make sure and it is only 220v. I got a refund and ordered another that arrived yesterday. It was packaged really well. I haven't tried it out yet. They didn't want the used one back so I guess I have a source for spare parts.

The first one I ordered from Ebay. The seller was named "offergreat". The most recent compressor I ordered from Amazon from a seller named OrangeA. Great communication and quick delivery. I was really impressed with the packaging. It had about two inches of honeycomb style cardboard on all sides. Amazon also offered a 4 year warranty for $29. I chose to get that after seeing some of the discussions here and on other forums. The terms for the warranty seemed to be in my favor.
  • Covers mechanical and electrical breakdowns.
  • No deductibles or hidden fees. Free shipping on all repairs. Fully transferable.
  • Easy claims process online or by phone 24/7. If we can't fix it, we will send you an Amazon e-Card for full replacement value.
  • Coverage begins at the end of the manufacturer's warranty. Plan is fully refunded if canceled within 30 days.
  • Plan contract will be emailed from Asurion within 48 hours of purchase. This will not ship with your product.

I don't usually do extended warranties but I figure I will probably use this one at least once in four years.

I also purchased the advertised 220volt pressure adjustable version. It came with a US 2 prong plug (type A), but "no ground". I have existing 220volt source @ home and don't mind splicing a plug or running a heavy extension, but I'm not sure what to do about the "no ground". I can put 110v to each leg of the 2 prong plug, but should I ground the motor and frame with a separate wire or leave them isolated ??? Planning on having a defibrillator, first responder crew, & helicopter on stand by. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Hawkeye51,

Exactly my point. Haha. It makes no sense to me. I am wondering if there are a few members....no, I know there are many members that have the 220v unit but it's wired for 110 and plugging it into a 110 outlet. Second scenario is, its a 110 unit that they sell off as a 220 unit and still plug into a 110 outlet.

Guys please be careful. A US 220 plug looks different than a US 110 plug. It will no way fit into a 110 outlet. If your plug fits a 110 outlet then you have a wiring issue. Guaranteed!

"Boombots74"Hence the reason for this post. So far no one has stepped forward and said they received a proper 220v unit with a 220v plug.
Gun shy? Haha...whatever it is, be careful guys.
shoot staright, shoot safe
I think the problem is there is no standard US 220v plug unlike in EU, there is a vast amount of different style US plugs for 220V. If you look at one of the vendors that shows the different plugs they have it will only show the US 110V plug, which is the only standard end we have. So if it's 220v, it will either be EU end or if they send it with US end it will be of the 110V type plug.
