compressor seems to be working fine, fills from 200 psi to 3000 psi in about 30-45 seconds,final temp about 38C, but I smell oil. I have one encased cotton tampon filter on inlet and two encased cotton tampon filters on outlet leading to gun fill port. neither fill port shows any oil contamination. What gives? Am I just being paranoid?

Well it does vent excess crankcase pressure out to open air so could be that. I just recently switched to the royal purple synthetic compressor oil it smells much nicer and is better for the compressor.

Get some 13x molecular seive from Ebay to fill your filters with as well. The cotton isnt doing much but works well in slices to keep the desiccant in the middle and use as plugs at either end.
