You view each cardboard box in terms of "will that be easily cut into the appropriate size for my target boxes?". I mean, sometimes, it is obvious but other times you have to get out the measuring tape. And most of the boxes are delivered from airgun related purchases ;-).

Ha, ha, ha. Me too! I've got boxes stored for shipping and bubble wrap in two houses and I get gripped at every time my wife sees them.

I just put up another cardboard box for a target once I have shot it out. Maybe put a 3 inch stick on or not and just shoot groups

The cardboard box recycling is just fine, but i am now using BR50 papers ( back side ) for my 2" splatter targets when i shoot MAX distance, it make the little .177 missed holes more visible outside the splatter targets.

Yup, can relate 
Produce box cardboard is recycled as target backing - small for the indoor 10 meter range and large for the outdoor 55 and 128 yard range.
The box of Corrugated cardboard is cut to exact size on the table saw for backing boards in the indoor rubber mulch trap.

I get all the cardboard boxes I can use from construction sites that I work at. My favorite are the tile boxes, 60 pcs per box of precut 12"x 12" cardboard spacers perfect size for my target needs.

Same here! I was cutting up boxes over the weekend and saving the ones that that would provide an 18”x 20” square to fit my target frame.

flat screen TV box , or you can buy wardrobe box from moving rental and cut to size but be sure to use lot of extra tape and padding .
