Hello everyone, I’m looking to return to shooting field target and the .177 pcp that I currently have will be replaced.

I’ve been looking at the daystate huntsman revere and the air arms s510. I would appreciate the opinion of those with experience with either rifle.

I currently own another daystate so there is some bias. But a long time ago I owned an air arms shamal.

My very first PCP was an Air Arms S510 .25 caliber (unregulated, of course). My next PCP was a Daystate Regal XL.177 caliber. I chose the .177 caliber to get a more backyard friendly air rifle. 

Both these rifles are beautiful, very nice styling and boringly accurate. Truth-be-told, I rate the Daystate a tad higher than the AA. My experience with these 2 may not be informative and helpful to you due the caliber difference of the 2 examples I critique.

BTW: I still have the Regal.

I don't and haven't owned a revere but would like to shoot one. I do own an S500 in .177 shooting HFT with it for the last couple of years as well as an older BSA R10 Mk2. Both the Daystate and AA I'm sure, are going to be a dead heat in accuracy and performance. It's going to be more about what features you are looking for in a gun. 

Things you may want to know (if you don't already) about the Air Arms:

The new generation S5xx series now have a non adjustable regulator and a higher (250bar) fill pressure. I can easily get through a 60 shot match on a fill. I do like the generous loading port on the S500 as I much prefer a single shot set up. Also know, according to Air Arms, they do not have an adjustable hammer spring. You will want/have to do some fiddling with the power adjuster to get the pellet speed where you want it. The power adjuster though incremental is not linear. I've had to very carefully tweak the position of the adjuster to get to my desired speed then put a tiny dot of Shoe-Goo on the adjuster to hold it in place so it didn't accidently self adjust (again).

My first PCP was a AA s400 it's craftsmanship was beautiful and it shot very accurate. Next I bought a Huntsman it is a good shooter and looker. I think the AA actually was little more accurate and the power adjusters nice to have. But it was louder, longer and a single shot. Thats my experience with the two.

I hope you do come back. Ft has changed a bit since we shot in VA and MD but your choice of rifles is fine. Both will outshoot us. The real question is what scope you want to mount on it and that depends on what division you choose to shoot in. Hunter division max. power is 16X but if you shoot open or WFTF you will want something quite a bit stronger.

If you're shooting hunter class either rifle is fine. For open or wftf the Air Arms edges out the Daystate. You can use an HFT 500, which has an adjustable stock, and comes at 12fpe. For open the s510 ultimate sporter also comes with an adjustable stock and adjustable power. Both stocks come with anshutz rails making hamsters and suck easier to attatch.
