Zelos Bottle valve Found. Huben !

From various reviews and instructional videos on YouTube, I've seen a couple different approaches to the issue of Zelos bottle conversions.

1. It is OK to fill the new bottle up to its rated working pressure (e.g. 4500 psi) without an additional step down pressure regulator between the bottle pressure and the gun.

2. You need to have an additional step down regulator with outlet pressure set at ~3625 psi between the bottle and the gun since the Umarex regulator in the gun is only designed to see 3625 psi. Higher pressures on the high side of the regulator will/may cause damage to the Umarex regulator.

It there a definitive "truth" between these two approaches to a bottle conversion? I'd really like to know which approach is correct as I have ordered a Zelos bottle adaptor (w/o additional regulator) and a 500 cc bottle.

I don't want to say something that might cause someone to get hurt , as I always beloved safety first. But here it goes. I have an app called Chat GPT.
This AI app is very smart it can do formulas in seconds that would take me lot's of time. This what it said.
The internal regulator can be turned up to 3,000 psi. The Zelos operating pressure is 3625 psi , and has a 5,000 psi burst disc. So if you put on a bottle adapter, and filled the bottle to 4000 psi which is 375 psi over the normal operating pressure. It should be fine.
I never tested this theroy. I only fill the new 500 cc bottle to 3,625 as this is double the 250 cc tube. My regulator is set to 2,700 which propells a .22 caliber 28 grain hollow point slugs like a laser beam. I was able to shoot a target with 40 red sharpie dots at 40 feet , and hit every dot before the regulator fell below 2,700 , and that is fine for now untill I get my 700 cc CFB
From eBay for $138. Now being as I use my Zelos only for bench rest the 500 cc aluminum bottle works fine for me at 2.2 pounds. The 500 cc round bottom aluminum bottle sells for 39.99 on Amazon. The Carbon Fiber Bottle , or CFB cost about $100 more , but if you are hunting it's lighter , and every ounce counts when walking several miles. Now the Huben Regulator is worth every penny as you can fill that 700 cc bottle to the full 4,500 psi , and the regulator to same as what it is set on the Zelos and have a safe rifle with a lot of shots. I don't have a Chronograph yet , but when I get one it will be awesome to tune my pellets to that sweet speed. Good luck , and remember SAFETY FIRST. It's not worth damage to an expensive gun, or your face. Happy Shooting , and God bless.

Thanks for the response. I've seen a few PCP reviews on YouTube, the reviewer fills above the OEM working pressure for the cylinder/bottle. Often it is only a few psi over with a handful running 100 - 200 psi over. I've ordered a 500cc CFB which is more than twice the volume of the Zelos cylinder. So, staying with the 3625 psi OEM limit is not a big deal on the 22 cal gun I have.

I'm considering getting a 25 cal to shoot heavy pellets/slugs so I'll probably want to put the internal regulator up around 2500 psi which will reduce my shot count. Getting a 4500 psi fill in a larger bottle would be helpful for this setup.

Zelos now has the best Bottle Adapter Valve out there by Huben.
This adapter is regulated. You can fill the bottle to 4,500 , and turn the regulator to the same psi as you have your rifle regulator set at. This will give you more shots. And the clocking is easily adjustable. Find at Huben power for $149.
I have at least 8 or more Huben Power regulators. Adjustable regulators that are rock solid, never drift. Just ordered another Cricket Max-ATH for the Condor I got last week. I have Dream Universal drop block on several guns, same as notos reg but M18 on both ends, which lets me use a 1.1L bottle on those guns. Nice 25CC plenum on the Dream regs.

But the MAX-ATH is my favorite. The 50CC plenum rocks. I run my Talon at 1800PSI, I'm getting getting 850FPS @ 45J/33FPE with 25.4gr heavy pellets

Cranked it all up and got 93J/70FPE out of a .22.

Talon is a 19 inch barrel vs the 30 inch on the Factor long. Which explains the 100Cc plenum.

I ordered a .25 24" barrel yesterday for my Talon or Condor. See how that goes. 50cc may not be enough plenum for .25 and that long of a barrel. So I'm working on a crazy idea to add at least 100CC in addition to the 50CC.

Factor has lots of power.
Reasonably priced too.
$850 on Gunbroker.com

But I have a Gauntlet 2 G30 and an .30 Evanix Sniper X2. Don't put out as much power but 100+ FPE from either is plenty. AEA Terminator .30 kicks it up even more.

Hit a raccoon a while back with the Terminator, left a big hole on the way out...

Have you ever used a double bottle.

Have you ever used a double bottle.
Funny you should ask, my plenum idea could easily be adapted for dual tanks on an unregulated gun.

That said I have a Niksan Escalade and an AEA Terminator which both have dual tanks and 850CC of air. I like lots of air in my guns. Most of my single bottle guns the first mod is bigger CF bottles.

My Hatsan Barrage and Bullmaster have Huben Power Dream Universal regulators and Tuxing 1.1L bottles. I have 2 more Acecare 1.1L fat bottles on the way for my Talon and Condor. I'm very good at turning guns into boat anchors by adding *stuff*. I usually shoot of a tripod so weight is not terribly important. I also have smaller CF tanks with AF valves if I need to go lighter with the Talon and Condor.
