Umarex Zelos Compact .25 Are You Ready?

The Umarex Zelos is a an affordable pcp air gun in its own right but it's really long!

How about a Zelos Compact that's only 27-1/2 inches long not counting the moderator.

Better?

A 475mm barrel gives you the best compromise for length vs brush clearing.

What changes did you make?
-converted to short air bottle
-shortened and recrowned barrel
-shortened shroud
-etc

How did you attach the moderator?

Yes, shortened the barrel, threaded and crowned it, shortened the shroud, the air stripper is attached to the barrel and the moderator attaches to the adapter. It is sporting a .22L bottle.

Like a juiced up Notos?

The super compact and agility of the Notos is part of the main reason why i found so much fun to shoot, i would imagine a compact Zelos would be just as awesome if not more.

I was going to buy a .30 and shorten it when they upgraded how you fill the gun. I’m glad I waited because I got to see the numbers the .30 full size produces. Those numbers aren’t asking for a shorter barrel. What kind of numbers are you getting with the shorter .25? Ascetically, your gun is perfect. Good job.

I have not done the workup on it yet, it is set at 2100psi on the reg, I'm guessing mid 800's on 25gr pellets. Ill check both ends of the reg to see what it offers and then open it up and try 36gr slugs.

Is it like a lot of bottle guns and has no plenum space? Unless there is one hidden between the grip and the mag, I don’t know about 36gr slugs. No matter how far you turn up the reg and open ports up.

I know you aren't a fan of youtube, but i was researching and reading up on the Zelos/M60B and came across someone slinging 68gr .35 Hybrid with his M60B, the dude was testing his in the backyard shooting apples and random stuff with the chrono running, toward the end of the short clip he also mentioned the reg pressure he was running at:

He aint selling you nothing, not being sponsored by or paid by Snowpeak/Umarex. lol Take it for what it's worth, but I did notice his very first shot, probably a cold shot, was somewhere around 780fps, few shots later it was up there in 830fps.

That sounds about right. Dr. Kralensteins .30 was putting out around 850 or so. Not sure of his reg setting.

Yes, it has a tube plenum under the barrel from the reg back to the TP.

it's pretty damn impressive for a ~$600 gun to crank out 100ft-lb in .35 cal, flying 68gr slugs in low 800s. I hit up Krale a week or two ago to ask about the bottle fill port, they told me the M60B they have in stock still have the old style bottles, that needed the entire bottle to be taken off for refill. lol

i was wondering if this is with their unregulated set-up, though?

The 357 barely hits 650 fps in stock form, so whatever they did to get almost 200 fps more is a bit curious. Weight difference has a lot to do with it too. Slap a standard 80 grain pellets back in there and you're down into mid 700s again.
