Zoraki 22 caliber My take

I Think they have the ultra version available it has a longer barrel

They do. The ultra version is the one that can be pumped 4 times.

With valve adjusted (closed more than stock), any of the Alecto/Zoraki pistols can hold 4 pumps. The valve in stock setting begins to bleed off air at the high end of the third pump. It's relatively easy to hear if you listen closely. Seems some fully hold 3 pumps while most bleed off just a bit. I have several Alecto's and have done this valve closure adjustment to one of them. Before adjustment it would bleed off just a bit at the end of the third pump and after it does not bleed off at 3 pumps and it will fully hold 4 pumps. The stress on the frame would seem to be noticeably higher at more than 3 pumps and I'm not sure that the "Ultra" version is any different as far as the strength of the overall frame is concerned or even with internal capacity or valve design. The gain in velocity seems to be much less going from 3 to 4 pumps as well, at least with the short barrel pistols. The Ultra could be different as to valve and frame but most opinions I've read say that they are the same other than barrel length. But the longer barrel should be able to utilize more air more efficiently so maybe it can provide added velocity. None of mine are the Ultra version as I prefer the shorter length. Much the same with the addition of a stock-it probably adds shooting stability but also adds bulk and weight. Different strokes.

Did not run any over the chrono but its coming ,,, The Zoraki HITS hard shooting at 20 yard targets , Even with only two pumps the Zoraki seemed to be hitting harder, Strange I will be looking into it ...

Seems to be hitting harder? The max armory link has chrony results.

Quote:

2 Pump 449.475 fps (137 m/s)
3 Pump 524.934 fps (160 m/s)
4 Pump 574.147 fps (175 m/s)

449 fps is ok for target shooting. You won't want to hunt pigeons using just 2 pumps unless you're very close. 3 pumps gives stock 1377 velocity. You CAN hunt pigeons as long as the range is 10 yards or so and/or you go for a head shot. 4 pumps is what you want to do for hunting pigeons or any other type of small game at 20 yards.

The day after I got my P-17, I killed a pigeon w/ it. I shot it in the base of its neck. It was DRT in about 5-10 seconds.

LOL ... watch this reviewer strain to get the 2nd and 3rd pumps in at 5:25 onward.

You ought to watch this vid since you have the short version of the Alecto. The short Alecto is the one he reviewed. He just about has a hernia on the 2nd & 3rd pumps. One can clearly see the strain on his face. He also chronied his and shows what it is capable of.

Which isn't much. He has the .177 version and at 3 pumps it gets 558 fps for 5.64 fpe. He clearly states the Alecto is not suitable for pest control.

Not to hijack your thread or anything; but, consider this comparison?

The Alecto in .177 caliber is capable of 558 fps and 5.84 fpe at 3 pumps.

The Crosman 1377 is capable of 546 fps and 5.25 fpe at 10 pumps.

The Alecto has a superlative trigger, amirite?

So does the 1377 w/ a adjustable trigger sear. Which costs $28 bucks.

One can find the 1377 on sale usually for $50. For a $28 part, they are every bit the equal of the Alecto. Except they are lighter by about a half a pound and they're a third of the price.

Add a plug & play flat top piston and flat top valve from AA for $56 ...

Find an old model 760 pump handle:

And one has a pistol that is easy to pump, and is more powerful than the Alecto for half the price. A pistol that is suitable for pest control.

"You ought to watch this vid". I did, long ago. And again recently. I'm not quoting from a review. I have several Alecto's as well as a 1377 and a 1322. I like all of them but I prefer the Alecto. For actual reference, I just shot a few over the chronograph with the Alecto, and I didn't (and never have) looked anything like "he" did on the video. It isn't particularly hard to pump for me. If it is for you, don't buy one. People are different. Using 7.0 gr. wadcutters, I get 450-460 on 2 pumps, 560-570 on 3 pumps and 610 to 615 on 4 pumps. Diminishing returns over 3 pumps for my pistol but the longer barrel version would probably gain a bit of velocity at each level. Also, my valve has not been fully closed and it might gain a bit more if fully closed but as it is a safety valve I've left it 1/4 turn open. You've made it clear you don't like the Zoraki platform and prefer your Crosman. That's fine, best of luck with it. I prefer the Alecto (Zoraki). Others will have their own preferences.

615 fps w/ a 7 gr wadcutter gives 5.88 fpe. Much the same fpe as what the reviewer of the .177 Alecto got w/ his.

I can see why you might think I do not like the Alecto. However, once upon a time I considered getting the Ultra version of the Alecto. I wouldn't ever get one in .177; but, I thought at the time, a .22 Ultra Alecto might just be the ticket . I decided against it for the numerous reasons I have already cited.

Your loss, IMO. But again, I hope you enjoy what you have. Enough of this conversation for me.
